X Factor 2012: Geri Halliwell slags Take That’s Howard Donald & Jason Orange during The It Girls’ awful audition

Geri Halliwell was not a popular X Factor guest judge the first time around, so we’re not sure why Simon Cowell asked her to come back this year….but he did and on tonight’s episode viewers will be treated to more scenes with the former Spice Girl trying to grab as much camera time as possible.

The mum of one stepped in to replace Kelly Rowland when the tryouts hit Liverpool earlier this year and on this evening’s show she makes her first appearance as a girl group named The It Girls take to the stage.

Predictably, the wannabes sing one of Geri’s own songs – Stop! – and when she heard what track they have chosen, the chirpy star exclaimed:

“Oh my god I’m so excited! I might have to join in naturally.”

We honestly doubt that she was really that psyched but if she had been, then we are sure the excitement had left once she heard what the hopefuls did to the tune…..not that you could recognise much of if.

Trying to be kind – or at least less harsh than her bandmate Mel B was in Manchester – Geri stammered:

“Ok, you’ve definitely got potential.”

Thankfully Gary Barlow was on hand to set the record straight and insisted:

“There’s barely a voice amongst you actually.”

But Halliwell just wouldn’t let it go and she decided to interrupt the dad of three, to slag his record breaking, best selling band Take That. She insisted:

“Not everybody in Take That could sing, sorry, I’m just being honest.”

Thankfully Louis Walsh (and it’s not often we are grateful for his presence) hit back, reminding Geri:

“Hey, not everybody in The Spice Girls could sing.”

But she was like a dog with a bone and continued:

“Gary, when I first started I could not sing, I can sing now. Two of your members could not sing.”

Barlow didn’t take the criticism well and obviously not wanting to publicly offend Jason Orange and Howard Donald, he blasted:

“Geri, don’t even go there!”

Louis weighed in, adding:

“Geri you had five!”

Tune into The X Factor tonight to see Geri in full swing. Do you think she makes a good judge? Leave your comments below…

Why do you assume Geri meant Howard and Jason?
They could all sing but some did have more experience than others. The first time round Mark and Jason, may have had the least experience and confident in their abilities, as Mark has said he wasn’t that sure of his singing then, even though he sang lead on Babe and Jason was never encouraged in his singing by their manager. Howard sings lead on the band’s 90′s anthem Never Forget. Sounds like he could sing, to me! Since then they have all proved they can sing lead vocals.

Confused? Did the Spice Girls ever learn to song? Take That has more than proved it’s talent and showmanship whether 4 or 5.

Geri is a has been , in fact she has not ever added anything positive to the uk music industry .
She should be completely embarrassed by her remarks about Take That , who is she to criticise another group ?

what a stupid cow! everyone in take that can sing and still can, there’s a reason the spice girls didn’t get back together… they were absolutely awful!
    Go TT

    So agree HF

At the end of the day, all this boils down to tv ratings. The more controversial/dramatic, the more viewers they may reign in. I love Take That. Why did Geri have to come out with that snidy remark? TV ratings. I mean, you have to say SOMETHING dramatic to get in the papers. Or you won’t get noticed. It’s all ridiculous fodder if you ask me. Geri can’t sing ‘It’s Raining Men’ very good at all, compared to The Weather Girls. So who is she to know what a professional voice sounds like? Do me a favour.
