X Factor 2012: Girl group Quantro axed after singer Lucie Slater was arrested for assault
A girl group named Quantro had been hoping that they would be able to follow in the footsteps of Little Mix and win the X Factor this year, however they have reportedly been axed from the lineup before they even reached bootcamp.
Inside sources have claimed that while the all female vocal harmony group had auditioned for the ITV series earlier this year and performed for Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh, winning a place in the next round of the competition, they have since been eliminated after one of their members got in trouble with the police.
Singer Lucie Slater was reportedly arrested, after she threw a glass at her ex-boyfriend during an argument and he required hospital treatment for his injuries.
The Sunday Sun reports that the incident took place on June 24th in Ashington, England and the man involved in the rucus was named as Scott Aitken aka Scott Hollywood, a DJ who has a residency at Tiger Tiger in Newcastle.
Lucie has attended court already, after being charged with wounding with intent to cause great bodily harm. She was released on bail and will face another hearing at Newcastle Crown Court on July 10 , 2012.
It is claimed that she and her bandmates – Hannah Gray, Carly Ahmad and Emily Dyson – informed ITV bosses of their position and have since been told that they cannot attend bootcamp later this month.
At the beginning of this week Quantro posted on the group’s official Twitter account, writing:
“Due to the actions of one individual of the band, Carly,Hannah and Emily can announce that we have been disqualified from our place on this years X Factor. We’d like to thank every body so so much from the bottom of our hearts for the support every1 gave us it meant everything and will strive us to continue doing what we love. Keep your dreams alive.”
Gray, 20, told the newspaper:
“We got amazing comments from the judges and we are just heartbroken. We have worked so hard to get to where we were. We can’t thank people enough for the support we’ve been given and that’s why the band is going to carry on.”
A Northumbria police spokesman said: “At 1.35pm on Sunday June 24 police received reports that a man had been hit with a glass inside an address in Ashington.
He received hospital treatment for facial injuries.”
