GMD3 are to change their name before this Saturday’s live show it has been revealed.

When the lads performed ‘Bless This Broken Road’ at judges houses for Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, the only critique made about the band was that their name ‘said nothing about them.’

Sharon said that she hated their title and that it was the only negative thing she could see in their act.

It appears that X Factor bosses have sat up and taken notice of the reality TV matriarch, as it has been confirmed that the boys are on the hunt for a new name.

GMD3 stands for the singers’ names – Greg, Micky and Dan – but all three members are up for a change and the told ITV:

“We’ve been dying to change our name for ages. People forget it and often confuse it with GMTV!”

They are happy to allow fans their say in the new moniker and added:

“We’d really love our fans and twitter followers to help us out by sending in their ideas for names. If there’s a suggestion we like, we’ll use it.”

It seems that Osbourne’s concerns weren’t the only reasons for the change as Dan tweeted his followers last night saying:

“Hey all ! I’m sure you’ve heard the news about us changing our name. Basically gmd3 is the name of a water pipes company in america ….”
