X Factor 2012: Homeless Robbie Hance makes bootcamp but sparks missing person search (VIDEO)
Robbie Hance was featured on tonight’s X Factor show, wowing the judges with his surprising vocal talent.
Of course the unkempt singer had a pretty decent back story too, he told the panel that he was homeless and unemployed and it was clear that he needed a break on the show more than most of his fellow contestants.
He told producers that he lived on the streets but if he was lucky, a few nights a month he might find a friend willing to let him sleep on their sofa for the evening. He explained that he had grown up in the care system, jumping from foster home to foster home since he was 13 year old but has always had a passion for music and for singing.
Robbie took to the stage and sang Coconut Skins by Damien Rice for the panel and they greatly enjoyed his performance.
Tulisa said that she was ‘glad’ he had taken the chance to come and perform for them and told Hance that he needs to regain his confidence and ‘realise’ how good and talented he is.
Louis Walsh praised Robbie for his ‘talent’ and said that he was sure he deserved a break in life.
Gary Barlow said the only negative point he had about the audition is that it became clear that Hance had ‘zero confidence’ in himself, he told him he would need to ‘work on’ that aspect of his performing in future.
Unsurprisingly, Robbie won four yeses and a place in bootcamp. It seems that he did turn up to the later stage in Liverpool however, six days ago when producers tried to contact the singer about his audition airing this weekend, they found that he could not be located.
A source told The Mirror:
“Producers sent a team out to scour the streets after losing contact six days ago.”
Staff last spoke to Hance on Monday but as he has no phone, they have been contacting him through a friend. They have not been able to reach him since and revealed that if he doesn’t get in touch with them soon, his future on the series will be in jeopardy.
They added:
“If he doesn’t get in touch by the end of next week, then he’d have to kiss goodbye to any part in the show, which would be a tragedy.”
