X Factor 2012: Interview with Geri Halliwell – she praises ‘sweet’ Louis Walsh & ‘wonderful’ Gary Barlow

The Judges Audition Tour kicked off with Guest Judges joining Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis in Liverpool, London, Manchester and Glasgow before it was announced that Nicole Scherzinger would be the permanent fourth Judge.

Geri Halliwell was one of the lucky stars, but then she has enough experience under her belt to be able to advise other wannabe stars.

The mum of one found fame as one fifth of the Spice Girls – the supergroup who remain the best selling girl group of all time. She was a Guest Judge on The X Factor in 2010 and returned again this year in Liverpool. Geri was keen to share her experiences of how to make it in the music industry with the contestants.

What was is it like being a Guest Judge on The X Factor?

It was an amazing experience; I had a lot of fun.

What were the highs/lows of the day?

I think the high was when I felt we had one of those special moments when one guy who was shaking in his boots with nerves and then sang beautifully. The show gives someone like him an amazing opportunity which may not have happened if he tried through a record company.

Would you have liked to become a full time Judge?

It was a pleasure to be asked back for a second time. I always have fun.

What was it like working with the other Judges?

I loved being part of the team; it reminded me of when I was in the band, recreating the camaraderie.

Who was your favourite Judge?

They are all special in different ways, Louis is very supportive and sweet, Tulisa is a breath of fresh air and Gary is a wonderful British talent who I admire. They all had something brilliant yet different to offer.

Do you think you saw anybody with The X Factor on the day?

Yes, the guy I mentioned earlier – I think he will go far.

The X Factor returns this Saturday night. Are you excited? Are you looking forward to seeing Geri? Leave your comments below…
