X Factor 2012: James Arthur ‘I’ve got Jahmene Douglas’ back’
James Arthur has been singing the praises of his fellow X Factor contestant Jahmene Douglas.
The 23 year old performer won a place in Saturday’s grand finale last night, along with Jahmene and Christopher Maloney, following the elimination of Union J from the competition.
The two Js have stuck together throughout the series and only last week, Jahmene said that he expected Arthur to have an ‘amazing career’ ahead and couldn’t wait to hear his first album.
James returned the compliment today and in an interview with ITV.com gushed about his fellow Team Nicole Scherzinger team mate saying:
“Jahmene is my boy! He is the BEST and oozes class from every pore.”
James enjoyed Douglas’ rendition of ‘I Look To You’ on Saturday, which he dedicated to his late brother who died in 2008. He added:
“His tribute to his late brother was mega emotional and the closest I’ve been to tears all series. I gave him a big hug afterwards, I’ve got his back.”
This morning Caroline Flack praised Jahmene for not changing as a person, despite the pressures and strains of the ITV show and James agreed saying:
“This show comes with a lot of pressure and I’ve been impressed by how well Jahmene has been coping.”
Gary Barlow may be mentoring Christopher for the remainder of the series but he’s been more vocal about the future of James and on Saturday night raved about his version of The Power Of Love on the semi final.
Arthur said the judges’ comments gave him a lot of confidence and continued:
“All the comments were very encouraging. Gary said he thought it was the performance of the series. His comment really boosted my confidence. To also get a standing ovation from all four Judges was the icing on the cake. I had to pinch myself!”
James, Christopher and Jahmene will go head to head this weekend when the final hits Manchester Central.
