X Factor 2012: James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas, Nathan Fagan-Gayle, Adam Burrdidge, Rylan Clark, Jake Quickenden through to judges houses – Joseph Whelan loses out!
On tonight’s X Factor we saw the judges whittle down more than 70 contestants to just 24.
The remaining hopefuls advanced from bootcamp to judges houses and the first category to be announced was the boys.
After Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Tulisa and Louis Walsh deliberated over the lads’ fate, they decided that the six acts they were sending through were James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas, Starboy Nathan (aka Nathan Fagan-Gayle), Adam Burrdidge, Rylan Clark, Jake Quickenden.
On hearing the news, an elated James admitted:
‘Best feeling of my life’
Jahmene was surprised, as he wasn’t exactly at the top of his game during the first part of bootcamp. He confessed:
“I did not think that would happen, I’m just shocked right now!”
Jake seemed just as surprised to have been chosen and said:
“I nearly had a heart attack. Can I phone my mum?”
Rylan broke down in floods of tears and we could barely make out a word he said as he wept with Dermot backstage.
However dad of one Joseph Whelan was devastated to be going home. He told producers that he was most sad for his young son and said:
“I’m letting my son down, I’ve let everyone down.”
He added:
“This is horrible…heartbreaking!”

Joseph should have gone through. Are the scared of rock singers? I think he would have won the competition if he had of been picked. All the other guys that have one the xfactor have been boring and they final get someone that’s exciting and that can sing and they chose others that can’t sing. Very disappointing!!

A big fix how can Melanie McCabe be sent home she was awesome I have to agree again it’s about the ratings and not the talent I think x factor should finish its become to fixed and not real

x factor is a FIX! I thought Joseph could’ve won the competition but no “IBIZA” rylan got through he can’t even bloody sing!, and poisonous twins they can’t sing either! x factor just want the entertainment & looks value now! this seriously isn’t real anymore, feel so sorry for Joseph he wouldn’t have let his son down he is amazing! definitely know why Joseph was shaking his head when rylan got through one word…JOKE!
Why are people surprised? It’s all about making money, if they think they can use Rylan to get a few cringeworthy moments and get people like us moaning about it on forums they will. I get the impression Joseph has enough nous not to be taken for a ride, hence why they dumped him. I wont be watching if I can help it, just got to convince my kids not to watch it now.
Joseph was completely robbed!! He should have sailed through to Judge’s Houses, not Rylan, who is mediocre at best- complete crap!!!!

ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!!JOSEPH HAS RAW TALENT AND REAL,RYAN CANT EVEN SING.MOST OF THE BIG NAME SINGERS WHICH HAVE BEEN GOING FOR YEARS ARE ROCK RELATED,NOT BOYBAND SOUNDING THAT ONLY LAST A FEW RECORDS AT BEST.

I’m pissed that Joseph didn’t get through. From the moment I heard him there was no doubt in my mind that I’d be seeing him on live shows. X factor seems to believe that every year there must be a novelty act who takes the place of an ACTUAL singer ,like Joseph. Is this really a singing competition ? Joseph was the only one of his kind in the whole competition. I really don’t feel like watching this show anymore.
Joseph was great and deserved to get through. The fact that Ryan was put through (purely for entertainment value) makes a mockery of the whole thing. X factor has lost all credibility in my opinion as there were many contestants from the boys who had way more talent than Ryan. I for one cannot take this show seriously anymore and I will not be watching the live shows
What an absolute joke. Have watched every single series since it started but no more! How can Rylan have been put through over Joseph? Do the judges really think the public want to watch rubbish over proper talent. Mind you, winning X factor seeems to guarantee obscurity and so hopefully Joseph will make it anyway. And why do the judges keep crying – sooo pathetic. Also will be interesting to see what girl with guitar singing about tea and toast will do on Abba/Beatles or Wham week!!!
