X Factor 2012: James Arthur on making the final 12 ‘I didn’t think that I have the full package’
James Arthur has admitted that getting so far on the X Factor has really boosted his self confidence.
The singer songwriter shone at his initial audition and again at bootcamp and on last nights episode of the ITV show he was seen impressing again with his version of ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ for Nicole Scherzinger and Ne-Yo.
However, Arthur has confessed that he was surprised to receive such a positive reaction at every stage of the competition, because he never though he had what it takes to be a ‘typical pop star.’
James explained:
“I went to that first audition with a hell of a lot of self doubt. It was a big day for me and I was so happy to get through.”
He added:
“Taking part in the X Factor is a big deal because I am putting who I am as a person out there which is something I have been quite afraid of doing.”
“I spent a lot of my life being very paranoid about my appearance. I didn’t think that I have the full package, your typical pop star. To get through would make me feel that I’m definitely worth something.”
This evening, viewers will see Nicole making her final decision and telling James whether or not he has made the final 12 and the lie shows. He’s desperate to advance to the next stage and confessed:
“I have never wanted anything more than this in my entire life, it would mean the world to me.”
