X Factor 2012: James Arthur scores number one with debut single for second time
X Factor winner James Arthur has topped the charts for the second time with his debut single Impossible.
The singer stormed the charts after winning the X Factor this month but failed to stay on top for the Christmas number one after he was beaten by The Justice Collective’s charity single He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother. However, James had another victory today after his song sold another 184,000 copies over the last seven days bringing total sales of his single to a whopping 897,000.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, he wrote: “I’m number 1 again? Sweet!! Thanks must go to you sick individuals who bought it! And I mean sick in a good way! #LOVE #Whatayear xxx”
The 24-year-old’s first release is the fourth biggest X Factor winner’s song of all time with 2008 singer Alexandra Burke’s song Hallelujah placing first having sold 1.2 million copies, 2005 winner Shane Ward’s That’s My Goal is second having sold 1.1 million units and Matt Cardle’s song When We Collide comes third having shifted 1 million copies.
