X Factor 2012 live show: Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger row over James Arthur’s ‘Stronger’ (VIDEO)
James Arthur made his big X Factor debut this evening.
The singer songwriter revealed recently that he’s not sure how he will fare on the series, as he doesn’t think he has the ‘whole package’ and everything it takes to be a pop star, but his new mentor Nicole Scherzinger has been singing his praises all week, promising that he would blow viewers away on tonight’s first live show.
Tonight, James started by singing a very stripped back version of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’. It started off slow and sped up a bit by the time the chorus came around.
We were a bit dubious about the song choice at first but when he launched into a rap section, which he had penned the lyrics for himself, we could see him relaxing into the track.
LOUIS: From your first audition I knew you were different. We found ourselves a brand new recording star.
TULISA: I love you as much now as in your first audition. You are a performer you are a recording artist.
GARY: I want to give you a bit of advice, you came with bags of intensity, retain it. I can see the edges rubbed off. That track could have been harder. Your song choice usually shocks me. I would have expected you to sing that song.
NICOLE: Forget the track, you are better than the track. You put your heart in it every time!
