X Factor 2012: Janice Battersby may like Lady Gaga / Amy Winehouse impersonator Nicola Marie but she doesn’t impress Gary Barlow!
Nicola Marie will be seen splitting the judges on tonight’s X Factor show.
The 35 year old singer is a Amy Winehouse/Lady Gaga tribute act from Derby and comes across as a little bit fame hungry and slightly desperate, when she appears on the ITV show.
Before taking to the stage the wannabe told Dermot O’Leary:
“My saying is, when I’m watching stuff on the telly is, I wanna live on the telly, I wanna live in the telly with the people on the telly. I wanna be in the telly now!”
Realising she may have been rambling somewhat, she added:
“Sorry I’m just dead nervous and I just talk on and on and on when I’m nervous!”
Louis Walsh thought Nic reminded him of someone famous, but not one of the ladies she impersonates.
“You know who you remind me of? You remind me of Davina McCall, you look a bit like her.”
The hopeful revealed her real day job saying:
“I performed for Janice Battersby’s 40th birthday…as Amy Winehouse.”
When she stopped gabbling, the brunette crooner delivered a rendition of ‘Tell it to my heart’ by Taylor Dayne for the judges, but Gary Barlow wasn’t a big fan.
Wow Nicola, oh Nicola, I don’t know if I liked that or not. It was a bit like the opening to a magic act or something. It’s just not current, it’s not now, people don’t do this.
I have to say I didn’t really enjoy the audition, I found it dated and ultimately I’d find you really annoying if you were in my category.
“In the beginning I didn’t like it…and then you did the splits, and now do I really really not like it or do I actually want to see it again!”
Former Spice Girl Mel B was guest judging for the day, which was lucky for Nicola as she was a big fan. The mum of three raved:
“I don’t know what he’s talking about, I properly loved it, it was full on, yeah it is a little bit dated, so what, but you grabbed my attention.”
Louis Walsh agreed and gushed:
“The thing about Nicola is she gave it everything!”
