X Factor 2012: Joe McElderry says “I don’t care” over promo snub, but Shayne Ward’s not happy!

As fans of The X Factor will of course know, it’s back on our screens with a new series next Saturday night, and for the last week or so, ITV have been broadcasting some of the show’s biggest success story stars, with the tagline, “Whose time is it now?”

The promos have featured One Direction, JLS and Alexandra Burke among others, however, not invited to appear in them were former winners Shayne Ward and Joe McElderry.

Of being looked over for the trailers, Joe is quoted by the Daily Star Sunday as saying, “I’m not on Simon’s label so I wouldn’t expect him to promote me. If they want to erase the fact I won X Factor or try and hide it, I don’t care.

“Personally I am proud I came from X Factor. If Simon doesn’t feel the same then you’ll have to ask him why…”

However, Shayne Ward isn’t similarly sanguine about the snub, and he took to Twitter to say, “Just seen the new Xfactor promo video. Yet again it’s like I’m being erased slowly from their history.

“Pathetic really Would love to know why?”

Shayne, who’s currently starring in The Rock Of Ages, then retweeted several messages of support from his Twitter followers before adding, “Thank you to everyone who tweeted me nice messages.

“It just would’ve been nice to have been acknowledged. It was a big part of my life x.”

Well, to be fair, the show’s bosses couldn’t include every single artist who’s gone on to achieve fame and fortune!

The ads would’ve been feature film length!

Here’s a reminder of One Direction’s promo footage…

Its a bit rich coming from two singers who flopped under Simon Cowell isnt it They both should stick to singing in pubs

Personally i think Joe Mcelderry is one of the best singers to come out of the X factor and his single ambitions that followed was great, not sure why he didnt get as much publicity as all the others, maybe cos all the teenage girls dont swoon over him, therefore he doesnt sell as many downloads,

While Joe seemed to make a career for himself with our without Simon, I was always confused as to why we never heard about Shayne Ward anymore via X-Factor. He was a brilliant contestant (his final ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ was amazing) and really seemed to have fantastic pop star potential. Given his talent and pop star image, overlooking him really does feel like it’s something ‘personal’, and I’m baffled as to why Simon and company don’t at least try to give the appearance they are proud of all their past contestants.

(sorry…that first sentence was supposed to say, ‘While Joe seems to have made a career for himself with or without Simon…’

  5. Sandy says:

Both these contestants were great. But Simon as we know has his favourites and if your not on his list you get no promotions and no help.

I wont be watching x factor this year I think its past its sell by date

  6. French says:

2 of the very best contestants ever to have come thro’ XF – both having incredible voices and range and the only 2 I have on CDs – neither need Simon Cowell for their continuing celebrity status
