X Factor 2012 judges houses: Jade Collins & Ella Henderson shone – Lucy Spraggan tried something a little different… (VIDEO)

Lucy Spraggan decided to show a totally different side to herself when she performed at judges houses earlier this month.

The singer songwriter shone at previous audition stages, when she performed her own quirky songs and self penned numbers. However, when she travelled to St Lucia, to sing for Tulisa Contostavlos and Tinie Tempah, in the hope of winning one of the three places in the live finals, she decided to take a different approach.

Instead of singing one of her own songs, Lucy took on the classic ballad ‘I Will Always Love You’ but tried to out a different spin on it than the usual Whitney Houston version we are used to.

It was speeded up and stripped back and although we weren’t totally convinced it was the best choice for Luce, we appreciated the fact that that she tried something new and wanted to stand out from the crowd.

Tinie wasn’t sure about her choice and mused:

‘I don’t know. It’s such a big song to sing.

Tulisa agreed and added:

‘She has her niche and does the niche stand up to the big voices?’

Jade Collins sang It Must Have Been Love by Roxette for the pair and they seemed to enjoy her version, however it was Ella Henderson that moved Contostavlos to tears with her version of ‘ I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz.’

As Tulisa dried her eyes and composed herself, Tinie gushed:

‘She is so good!’

Tulisa said:

‘I knew you liked it. I was like ‘Tinie is feeling it right now.”
