X Factor 2012: Kye Sones admits Gary Barlow’s lecture was like ‘when your dad has a go at you’

Kye Sones has admitted that he felt like Gary Barlow was a disappointed parent when he criticised him last week.

The X Factor hopeful got poor feedback from the judges when he performed on Love and Heartbreak week and later, his mentor took him aside, played his performance back to him and pointed out the 32 flat notes he had hit…..every single one!

He then told the former chimney sweep that he felt he was moving backwards in the competition and was in danger of being eliminated if he didn’t pull his socks up.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor last night Kye confessed that he felt like a naughty child as he was berated by the dad of three and laughed:

“Do you know what it’s like? Do you know when your dad has a go at you? It’s because they mean well and they want to give you a kick up the…”

Kye had a tough week last week and was put on voice rest for days before the ITV show aired. He admitted that it was tough to push past his health issues, explaining:

“This time last night I didn’t even have a voice I texted Gary and said I can’t even speak let alone sing and all day I have literally been silent, just so I could get through that performance.”

Thankfully, the effort paid off and after his rendition of ‘Save The World’ Nicole Scherzinger raved:

“I wanted so badly for that performance to be epic and it was. I thought you were very honest. I felt like I was watching Chris Martin up there it was brilliant.”

Kye is elated with the praise and admitted:

“I was really happy, the comments were amazing, I was completely gobsmacked by them.”
