Kye Sones returned to the X Factor stage this evening, for his second live performance of the series.

While some of the contestants seem to be constantly battling with their nerves and panicking about their songs, the 30 year chimney sweep always seems very laid back and secure in his own talent and we laughed as he talked about sitting backstage and philosophising with his mentor Gary Barlow over the perfect cup of tea at dress rehearsals yesterday.

He just takes it all in his stride, which is great especially considering the lack of sleep he has been suffering recently!

Kye chose his own song this week and opted to sing Rihanna’s Love The Way You Lie, for the love and heartbreak themed show.

He mixed it with Dido’s ‘Thank You’ and while the two songs fitted together wonderfully and we enjoyed the freshness of the version, Kye’s vocals just weren’t up to scratch.

He is an amazing singer but some of the high notes were definitely out of his comfortable range and it showed.

The judges weren’t sold either it seems….

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Louis Walsh: You are a great singer and performer but there is something missing. I think you can do an awful lot better. I got bored Gary. Three judges say the same, you’re doing something wrong Gary.

Gary Barlow: Anyone out of the audience could have got up and said that. That was a non comment. Great vocal performance tonight. You translated the song perfectly well done.

Tulisa: It’s confusing, I have been a massive fan of yours. You have all the ingredients to be an artist, you are getting lost, you’re not translating. We are not seeing everything that Kye is about.

Nicole Scherzinger: That was a brilliant song chocie, excellent vocals, you were right on point. But that performance dd not set me on fire, it didn’t grab me.
