X Factor 2012: Kye Sones wants to be in final 12 – explains ‘I don’t want to clean chimneys and shovel up soot all day’
Kye Sones has admitted that he is ready to leave his job as a chimney sweep and become a full time X Factor contestant.
The handsoem singer was featured on last night’s episode of the ITV show, singing Payphone by Maroon 5 for judge Gary Barlow and his assistant Cheryl Cole. Even though he struggled with one note, Gary was still pretty positive about his performance and admitted:
‘That was a really tricky song to sing…..I’m excited about him.’
Kye has since explained why he is so desperate to make the live shows revealing that he has spent the last decade working hard and never quite making it and he now wants to put his career of manual labour behind him and become a fully fledged musician.
My first audition was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I saw everyone stand up on their feet as far as your eyes could see and that made my legs turn to absolute jelly. It was really hard to take in.
Within hours I was back in a dusty building site and that’s the harsh reality of the X Factor.”
“The last ten years have been a mixture of rubbish jobs and then music. I have been in loads of bands that haven’t worked out, I have gone straight back to work. It’s been really hard.
This for me is 12 years of hard graft. I don’t want to clean chimneys and shovel up soot all day. I’d rather be singing dry day for my supper that’s for sure.”
