X Factor 2012 live show: Jahmene Douglas was named ‘favourite’ after ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’ (VIDEO)

Jahmene Douglas managed to conquer his nerves on last week’s show and this evening, he returned to the stage to perform as part of love and heartbreak week.

The former shelf stacker is a front runner in the competition and bookies are already tipping him as one of their favourites to win the series this December. In his pre-performance VT he admitted he was chuffed to have won Yoko Ono’s support after his last song, and it seemed that the celebrity backing helped bolster his confidence even more.

Tonight, he seemed so assured as he took to the platform to perform Amy Winehouse’s ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’.

He looked very suave in his white suit and red shirt and from the first lyric, the vocal was smooth, perfect and very, very impressive.

It was a lovely version of the song and we loved how it built and built until a massive crescendo at the end. He mixed the tune with ‘Ain’t No Mountain’ in the final verse, which was a lovely little alteration.

All in all, we found it pretty astounding.

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Gary Barlow: Well done, what a way to kick off the show. Using your skills as a vocalist. Love the outfit, love the Motown flavour. Strong, strong.

Louis Walsh: Jahmene I loved the Amy song, you are what the show is about. So young, so shy. You are one of my favourite ever contestants.

Tulisa: You are looking very dapper tonight. I think the ladies will be, lining up after that. The voice is amazing, I can’t fault you on any of your performances so far.

Nicole Scherzinger: My sweet little precious baby cakes. You came out here and you took it, you just took it. You look sharp and fresh. You were born to be on that stage Jahmene.

At Lucy Spraggans Beer Fear went straight to my iPod, than James Arthurs performance got to me, after which Ella Henderson with Rule the World blew my mind.
Still, Jahmene is winning me over with his performance, style and attitude. Gotta love his last comment about giving confidence to others like him.
It will be hard to decide when all the competitors bring their A-Game.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever. With the number of things of beauty Jahmene will give us we will need a load of forevers. A very great singer is prudently coming out of his shell in front of our eyes. What an event!

Jahmene has it all and he’s already WON. Ella has been bigged-up from the off but shes’ got fierce competition in Jahmene. What a lovely humble person, I wish him the best and as I’ve never voted for an X Factor act I have pushed the buttons as to Jahmene. He deserves to WIN OUTRIGHT.
