Rylan Clark never strays far from controversy.

Last week he caused a scandal, when after performing pretty badly in the X Factor bottom two sing off, he was saved and awarded a place on this week’s show to the detriment of Carolynne Poole.

He insisted that he would prove himself tonight and show the judges that he was taking the competition seriously, but if that was really his intention, surely he wouldn’t have chosen Gangnam Style as part of his medley this evening.

In an earlier interview, Rylan promised that his performance would be memorable….which sounded alarm bells in our heads instantly and I think we were right to be worried.

Before he even took to the stage we found out that while singing, Clark would be walking down a white catwalk followed by ten panda fashionistas! Panda fashionistas? Really!

We loved Rylan’s entrance in which he sang the first line of Take That’s ‘Back For Good’ before telling Gary:

“I ain’t really singing that Gary. That was just for you!’

Next he launched into a rendition of Groove Is In The Heart, mixed with Gangnam Style and Pump Up The Jam.

It was all very weird, the pandas were surreal and we were totally confused throughout. They weirdest thing was though….it wasn’t the worst performance of the evening!

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Gary Barlow: Rylan if this was a competition for how many songs you an kill in 2 minutes you would win hands down. You can’t sing. I am never going to like this but I hear from everyone backstage that you’re a lovely guy and I’m sure if we sat and had a drink together I may well enjoy it….for about 30 seconds.

Louis Walsh: That is entertainment with a capital E. It couldn’t get any camper….I love it.

Tulisa: Rylan I’ve got to be real, it is a bit of cheese and karaoke but it’s blinking entertaining. I’m intrigued to see what you’ll do next week.

Nicole Scherzinger: There was dancing fashion pandas, who doesn’t love that. You are not afraid to take a risk and you’re not safe like some other contestants.
