With friends like Louis Walsh who needs enemies eh?

The X Factor judge is supposed to have a close relationship with his fellow panellist Tulisa Contostavlos but during his interview on Daybreak this morning, he blasted her hair and her dress style in one fell swoop.

The star was canvassing for votes, before his groups MK1, GMD3 and Union J perform on the live shows tomorrow night for the first time, but when conversation turned to the former N-Dubz star and his recent claims that she is just a ‘chav in a tracksuit’ he laughed:

“She is a chav in a tracksuit but she’s a nice chav and she’s got a really nice tracksuit.”

That’s sort of nice….isn’t it?

Louis went on to assure viewers that he actually really loves the ‘Live It Up’ hitmaker, insisting that they are close pals. However, he thinks she can be a very bad influence on him too and said:

“I love Tulisa, it’s a term of endearment. She’s like a really bold sister. You know if you had a sister that was a tomboy, who beat you up? That’s what she’s like. I love her.”

Tulisa appeared on Daybreak yesterday morning and showed off her new hairdo. She dyed her locks blonde over the summer, just before bootcamp kicked off and this week, while she was partying in Ibiza the singer went brunette again.

It seems that Louis isn’t a bleached blonde fan, as he praised her new look saying:

“She’s looking really well. She’s got the black hair back, that blonde thing is gone! It was awful. She’s looking amazing now.”

That’s a backhanded compliment if we ever heard one.

Meanwhile, the former Westlife boss is expecting some tension between the judges when the live shows kick off this weekend. He thinks that when it comes down to the wire and they’re fighting for the survival of their own acts, things could get nasty.

Louis said:

“We are all in competition from tomorrow night, we all want to win and we’re all going to fight for our acts. I’ll do whatever it takes to get these guys votes.”
