X Factor 2012: Judges and audience adore Lucy Spraggan’s ‘Last Night’ – ‘Beer Fear’ is straight through to bootcamp! (VIDEO)
We love the new singer songwriters that are coming to the fore in this year’s series of The X Factor and after Ella Henderson shone on last week’s episode of the ITV show, this evening it was Lucy Spraggan‘s chance to shine.
The 20 year old singer from Sheffield enjoyed her TV debut on tonight’s installment of the singing competition and what a debut it was. As far as X factor auditions go, hers couldn’t have been much better and Lucy was seen wowing the judges with not just her voice and her guitar playing but with her song writing and lyricist skills too.
She explained to the panel that she would be singing her own self penned tune titled ‘Last Night’, which was about ‘beer fear of what you did the night before.’
It already sounded like our kind of tune. A few of our favourite lines were:
‘Last night I asked you to marry me, that’s when I remembered the brandy.’
‘Last night I called you a loser, that was after flaming sambuca.’
Lucy’s delivery was top notch too and we loved her vocal tone, as did the judges.
Tulisa Contostavlos was an instant fan and insisted that she wanted to get the song ‘straight on my ipod.’
She added:
‘That clever, kind of rappy singing, it was so funny, it was intelligent and the way you put your lyrics in, I loved it all.’
Louis Walsh said that he could see the tune topping the UK charts and becoming the next big ‘number one’. He also insisted that in his nine years on the judging panel, no one has ever received such a positive reaction from the crowd.
Gary Barlow was gushing too, praising Spraggan’s ‘fantastic’ song writing skills and her humourous lyrics.
Former Spice Girl Mel B was standing in as a guest judge and for once didn’t slate the act on stage, saying that she enjoyed Lucy’s ‘vulnerability’ along with her little bit of confidence.
As the audience chanted ‘we want more’, unsurprisingly, Lucy won four yeses and a place in bootcamp. Do you think she’s good enough for the live shows? Leave your comments below…
