Lauren Smith and her great vocal talent were featured on the X Factor this evening, but for some reason, the judges couldn’t agree on her audition.

The pretty red head wowed Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos with her version of ‘American Boy’ by Estelle and we thought it was a pretty original version and we loved Lauren’s whole singer songwriter feel and the fact that she played her own guitar.

After her performance Tulisa raved:

“I think we found ourselves a recording artist. It was brilliant I loved it.”

Mel B wasn’t quite so positive and mused:

“I have a pet Peeve when people close their eyes throughout the whole song.”

Louis wasn’t effusive in his praise either and continued:

“I’m not sure you’re right for this show though?”

Contostavlos kicked off at the Irish star, berating him saying:

“How many times do you say we’re looking for a recording artist…we’ve found one?”

He hit back:

“How do you know?”

But Tulisa wasn’t taking his attitude lying down and blasted:

“What was your last act? Jedward?”

Gary brought things back to the competition and told Smith:

“Lauren I really enjoyed you. It’s a yes from me.”

Mel added:

“I didn’t love it but I liked it. You are interesting, so it’s a yes from me!”

Louis mused:

“I’m on the fence but I’m going to say yes.”

But Tulisa wasn’t letting it go and continued ranting at Lou Lou, saying:

“Don’t give me all that selling millions of records! That was years ago! When were Westlife number one? Because I was last week.”
