X Factor 2012: Lucy Spraggan ‘livid’ at claims she’s not a ‘proper’ singer!

Lucy Spraggan is said to be furious about claims that she isn’t a proper singer and doesn’t deserve a slot on The X Factor.

After the singer songwriter performed some of her own tracks on the ITV show – her tunes Tea and Toast and Last night won rave reviews from the panel – some viewers claimed that she spoke more than sang and had no place in a singing competition.

Star magazine reports that the talented hopeful was “livid” about the criticism and one source said:

“She overheard that people have been saying she’s not a proper singer because she speaks a lot of her songs.”

They added:

“She was livid. Apparently, people are saying she’s not diverse enough to win the show. Now she’s determined to prove her doubters wrong.

“After all, shes written loads of songs herself. it’s really shaken her.”

Gary Barlow obviously doesn’t agree with the critics, as the Take That star praised Lucy following her version of ‘Golddigger’ on the live show last weekend.

He raved:

“I was a bit worried when I knew you were doing a cover version, tonight was a different case entirely. I really enjoyed the fun in that. Well done, great performance, good girl.”

Louis Walsh added:

“You are a true professional, you are a brilliant, versatile, storytelling performer and I loved it.”

Tulisa is right behind her contestant too and Lucy revealed that her mentor is happy to let her progress as she wants on the show and stay true to herself and her style. She explained:

“I got a text from Tulisa saying that I could dye myself blue and go on stage as a smurf if that’s what I want.”

She added:

“I’ve got her on my side and she wouldn’t let anyone change me.”

We love that Lucy and Tulisa have struck up such a close friendship. It’s sweet.

Meanwhile, Lucy has revealed that she is already missing her pal Melanie Masson from the ITV show. The mum of two looked after Spraggan and she admitted that she’ll miss her smile in the mornings.

Luce said:

“She’s great, she looked after all of us. In the morning when everyone is knackered she has a really smiley face and is really nice to everybody.”

This weekend the acts will get to sing their favourite dance anthems on the live show. Check out all the details and previous song choices for this week’s club classics theme here.

Well… I would not say she isn’t a proper singer, because she can sing… I would say she is not a very good singer and she is getting boring as hell… for me all that she sings sounds the same sing every time… it is a shame that she is on X Factor and Jade Richards was booted… disgraceful!

I like Lucy Spraggan. She won’t get to the final though. She is defiently unique, but WE WANT SINGING! If she did ‘tea and toast’ again, that’d be A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!

  5. Stuart says:

She reminds me of a singing tramp, one that sits in the town center and sings for money because she isnt singing a proper full length song like Ella

I like Lucy but I know for sure she wont win or be in the final 2. I’ve heard a fair share of her music. She sounds more like what I call a singles artist than albums artist. But she can sing well enough she is just better at the more speaking words stuff.

If you ask me Lucy stands out as a non programmed non karoke original act, Lisa is Dead right plus add in Lily Allen who has made a mint. X-factor is just a karoke competition and its about time there was a competition to bring singer songwriters and bands to the public eye. And Stuart singing tramps have to start somewhere. Busking is where some major artists have been picked up.
