X Factor 2012: Lucy Spraggan’s ‘Last Night’ second biggest selling single of the week – she wants to sing with One Direction!
Lucy Spraggan has already achieved a best selling single and she hasn’t even made it to the X Factor live shows yet.
The 20 year old singer from Sheffield impressed the judging panel with her own song ‘Last Night’ when she tried out for the ITV show and on Saturday night’s episode the stars were seen raving about the talented singer, after the audience gave her a standing ovation and one of the longest cheers we’ve ever heard.
Gary Barlow gushed:
“I loved your song, what a fantastic songwriter you are!”
Because Lucy had already released the song and an album independently last year, they were both available via iTunes and within hours, both stormed up into the top ten charts of the online retailer.
X Factor bosses asked her to remove them from iTunes last night – although the ‘beer fear’ song can still be downloaded via Amazon – but still the Official Charts Company has confirmed that Last Night has been the second biggest selling single of the week, only being beaten by Little Mix’s ‘Wings’ which was released on Sunday.
If the sales pattern continues, the former X Factor winners will take home the number one single on Sunday and Lucy will claim the number two spot.
Not bad for someone who has appeared on TV only once.
Meanwhile, after becoming such an instant hit, Lucy is already thinking about who she would like to work with when the ITV series ends. At the top of her wis
“Of course I’d love a collaboration with One Direction. I’d love to work with any of these people. To do anything like that would just be incredible. To be in this situation is really hard to take in.
“But the One Direction boys are lovely. Of course I’d work with them.”
At least some of 1D seem to feel the same way about Spraggan and on Saturday night Louis Tomlinson tweeted about her performance saying:
‘Love the girl from Sheffield ! Come on Yorkshire !!’
He added:
‘@lspraggan Well done babe ! I’m a local lad from Doncaster ! #comeonyorkshire’
