X Factor 2012: Man arrested for stalking Caroline Flack

Fame of course has a price, and as many a celebrity has found out, that price is often attracting unwanted attention in the form of stalkers, and Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack is the latest victim of a stalker who’s been hounding for months.

However, the Daily Mirror report today that the as yet unnamed man – who’s aged 39 – has been arrested following several complaints by Caroline to police after the man followed her, tried to give her “gifts” and tried to touch her.

Speaking to the paper about the man’s arrest, Caroline revealed that she’s “relieved” he’s been arrested, however, he is currently on bail awaiting further police questioning over the charges of harassment.

A source close to Caroline said, “It’s been a pretty stressful past few weeks for Caroline…

“But now the police are involved, she hopes the matter will soon be resolved and she can move on with her life.”

It is understood the man began his approaches to Caroline by sending letters before turning up in person at X Factor auditions in Manchester.

He’s also believed to have been following her status updates on Twitter to find out her whereabouts so that he could turn up.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman yesterday confirmed the arrest, saying, “A 39-year-old man was arrested and questioned, and has been bailed until mid-August pending further investigation.”

This is of course the second stalker incident involving The X Factor as boss Simon Cowell was also stalked by a woman who actually broke into his house and hid in his walk-in wardrobe earlier this year.

The woman, Leanne Zaloumis, broke into Simon’s West London home after smashing his bathroom window, and last week, she pleaded guilty in court to damaging Simon’s property, but not guilty pleas to affray and burglary were accepted.

Zaloumis, who is on bail and due to be sentenced next month, is banned from contacting Simon, and from going within 300ft of his home.

Scary beans.
