X Factor 2012: Nicole Scherzinger officially announced as Fourth Judge – Shock Horror!

After what has been months and months (but seems like years and years) of speculation, ITV have finally today announced that the fourth X Factor judge this year will be axed X Factor USA judge, Nicole Scherzinger.

The former Pussycat Doll, and long-term girlfriend of Brit F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton, Scherzinger has 15 million album and 37 million single sales under her experience belt from her part of one of the best-selling girl groups of all time!

After being axed from the X Factor USA after her first series in the hot seat, which she landed after the sacking of our Cheryl Cole two weeks into the job, Scherzinger became one of the firm favourites (despite what Geri Halliwell might think) to take the permanent job which has been filled by stand in guest judges throughout the audition stages so far, after former X Factor judge, Dannii Minogue turned down the offer of her old job at the 11th hour.

Nicole Scherzinger was one of these guest  judges, after a successful trial on the panel back in 2010, when she filled in for Cole whilst she was ill with malaria, and was an instant hit with the British audience, when she filled in at the current London auditions earlier this month. She will reprise the role as of Monday 18th June at the Newcastle auditions all the way through to the final try outs in Cardiff on June 25th.

Speaking in an official statement released by ITV, Scherzinger said: “I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It’s where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle. I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.”

Peter Fincham, Director of Television, ITV, added: “Nicole will bring her wealth of experience, both as a solo artist, and as a member of a group, to this year’s Judging panel. We’re delighted that she’ll be joining us for the forthcoming series.”

Richard Holloway, Managing Director, Thames, commented: “Nicole is an absolute star. She’s sold millions of records worldwide and she’s extremely well qualified as a Judge – she was brilliant when she stood in as a Guest Judge two years ago and again this year. We can’t wait to start working with her.”

Charles Garland, Chief Executive of Syco Entertainment stated: “We are delighted to welcome back Nicole to the UK X Factor. Nicole is a global star and proved to be extremely popular with viewers when she guest judged for the UK panel two years ago and it’s great to have her on the team.”

Nicole joins the judging panel, already boasting such talent as Gary Barlow, lead singer and song writer for Take That, Tulisa Contostavlos who is best known for her hip-hop group, N-Dubz and X Factor mascot Louis Walsh!

Tell us what you think of the decision to make Nicole the 4th X Factor judge below (unless you are Geri Halliwell).

The series returns to ITV1, ITV2 and itv.com later in the summer, 2012.

Fantastic choice. She was great when she guest judged in other series before. Nicole Sherzenger should’ve been hired last year instead of giving her to X Factor USA. Kelly Rowland could’ve done the USA one.

  2. Gav Harrison says:

Horrible choice there’s a reason why she was axed from the USA version she didn’t mentor her acts right, she didn’t gave a clue when it came to song choices and she was just plain dull,if itv think she’ll improve ratings there sadly mistaken really bad choice.

    • Sean Bassett says:

She can’t be any worse when it comes to mentoring acts than Kelly Rowland. She even flew off to America then made out she was ill. You could tell she was faking it when she rang in on Xtra factor

      • me says:

Nicole came to England and performed on XFactor whilst she was supposed to be mentoring her acts. Kelly was actually good. I keep saying it and will continue to say that Kelly was too dark for British XFactor and was treated unfairly. What about Tulisa and Louis who bullied a contestant on live TV, is that being good? What about Louis who was in Ireland every week only coming back for the live show? Who says Kelly wasn’t genuinely ill if her doctor said she was? Isn’t Simon Cowell off sick at the moment? They are human beings and they fall ill. She was good on the show and all the negativity just goes to show that XFactor does not appreciate people from other cultures much when it comes to judges. Tulisa was actually horrible!

      • Sean Bassett says:

If Kelly Rowland was really ill, she’d have sounded a bit more convincing when she spoke on Xtra factor. Plus,if she was that bothered with mentoring her acts, would she have really left them and gone out of the country? Louis and Tuisla didn’t ‘bully’ Misha, they just brought up a good point of something that was all over the news:Misha B being a bully. I don’t remember anything being said on Internet about Louis being in Ireland, but that’s nowhere near as bad as Kelly Rowland abandoning her contestants for America,

Noit a bad choice but there were many better names for the job…. have to say not liking the panel at all this series…. Tulisa is so cliché when it comes to comments, and will have such a big ego because she won last year…. Gary is boring, Louis isn’t really credible as a judge… Nicole is a better version of Tulisa! I think a bigger, maybe an older person with more experience in the industry should have got the job! The panel worked best when there was chemistry between the judges… Simon, Sharon and Louis all had this chemistry, Cheryl did with Simon but last year there was little chemistry and that ruined it! I doubt Nicole will add that to the panel….

Will not be watching this year Nicole is a awful choice they should have got Anastacia to bring some cred to the show. Although I know she had other commitments most of the fans were blown away by her as a guest judge.

  5. Nat says:

I think that Nicola will be a good judge better then tulisa

  6. Shell says:

Nicole is a terrible choice! There are far better and more experienced stars out there, that are more suitable to be the fourth judge on xfactor. I don’t like her or her comments when she appears on the auditions shows, so she is not going to be any use as a mentor.
