Tonight saw the conclusion of bootcamp on the 2012 X Factor series and the episode was filled with emotional performances from more than 70 acts, all desperate to make the grade and reach the next stage of the competition.

The panel had to pick just 24 acts, from more than 70 who sang in Liverpool’s Echo Arena and after choosing their six girls and six boys, Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos turned their attentions to the over 28′s.

It was a category jam packed with talent, as Gary has admitted on many occasions but after much deliberation the stars picked Kye Sones, Melanie Masson, Nicola Marie, Brad Shackleton, Carolynne Poole and Christopher Maloney to go through

On hearing the news, a stunned Kye confessed:

“I never get picked first for anything. Anything!”

Christopher seemed stunned also and added:

“I didn’t think they were going to call my name out. All day I have been thinking it was a no.”
