X Factor 2012 results: Gary Barlow ‘we have never had a winner like James Arthur before’
Gary Barlow is pretty proud of how the public voted on the X Factor this year.
The Take That star thinks the right people made it through to the final and he says he would have been happy no matter who won the show last night.
The dad of three was a fan of Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur on the ITV series – even though he mentored their competitor Christopher Maloney – and speaking after the result was announced last night he said:
“To be fair, Jahmene or James could have won tonight easily.”
However Barlow is glad the numbers fell the way they did and James took the crown in the end. He has been backing the 23 year old from day one and he insisted that him winning wasn’t just a great achievement for the singer, but also for the show itself. He said:
“Personally myself I just always saw James winning the show. He is just so real. The other thing is we have never had a winner like him before so it’s brilliant for the show.”
James’ mentor Nicole Scherzinger thinks her protege deserved the win and she insisted that despite Chris’ claims that he was the hardest working singer on The X Factor ever, actually James fought hardest for the prize.
“He [James] fought for it , he wanted it so bad and that makes all the difference.”
James won an automatic record deal with Simon Cowell’s SYCO and released his debut winner’s single Impossible at midnight last night. He performed ‘Impossible’ previously on the show.
