X Factor 2012 Results: James Arthur on his final song choices
James Arthur has admitted that the most important thing about this weekend’s X Factor final is choosing the right songs to perform.
The 23 year old has made it through the stressful semifinal and last night was awarded a place in the grand finale along with Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney. The trio will go head to head in Manchester Central for the chance to win a record deal with Simon Cowell and SYCO.
On The Xtra Factor the singer songwriter thinks getting the songs right is the key to success in the last stages of the competition and explained:
“Very important… they [the song choices] are very important because I think a lot more people watch the final and they will vote hopefully.”
James is a prolific song writer but hasn’t been able to do any of his own tunes on the series so far. Nicole Scherzinger didn’t sound very hopeful that he would be doing one in the final either, but he’s got his fingers crossed and added:
“I would love to do one of my own.”
James was asked why he thinks he has an edge over his fellow hopefuls and while he refused to put his pals down, he did explain why he thinks people should vote for him on Saturday.
“I don’t know about having an edge over people but there are three different types of singers, three completely different genres of music,” he said.
“I think maybe I have shown that I can do lots of different styles of music and I’m not one dimensional.”
This week James will be heading home to the North of England with his mentor Nicole to put on a homecoming concert ahead of the final.
It’s been revealed that he will also be duetting with Scherzinger on the final next weekend.
