James Arthur has been praising his pal and fellow X Factor finalist Jahmene Douglas.
The 23 year old won the ITV show last night, after going head to head with Jahmene in the grand finale. However, before the result was announced both men claimed they would be happy for the other to win and we actually totally believed them.
Jahmene could not have been more supportive of and happy for his pal when he did triumph and speaking on Daybreak this morning Arthur returned the favour, telling Lorraine Kelly:
“Absolutely world class that boy. I can’t say enough good things about him.”
After his touching tribute to his friend, James revealed that the next step for him is getting his album out onto the market.
On winning he automatically landed a deal with Simon Cowell’s SYCO and revealed that he wants to get his debut album out as soon as possible. There will be no waiting for a year for James.
The Middlesborough man has had a difficult life to date. He endured a troubled childhood and lived in a tiny poky bedsit before taking part in the ITV show. He’s poured all that heartache and experience into his songs over the years and he’s hoping that some of his lyrics will touch and help people, once they hit the mass market.
“The next step for me is getting all the material I have been writing for years and all the songs I’ve accumulated and getting them produced and out there. Hopefully helping people with my lyrics and relating to people. That’s the goal anyway.”
The songwriter has confessed on many occasions that he wouldn’t have gotten to the end of The X Factor without his mentor Nicole Scherzinger. She helped him through his panic attack which almost saw him leave the competition in the early stages and worked with him on his songs each week, so he could retain his credibility and sense of individuality.
This morning he paid tribute to the brunette beauty again saying:
“I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor than Nicole. First and foremost she’s an artist and she appreciates exactly what I wanted to do and gave me artistic licence and allowed me to do what I wanted to do with the songs I got every week.”
James released his winner’s single Impossible at midnight last night and already it’s at number one in the iTunes chart. He performed ‘Impossible’ on the show yesterday and you can see the video below.
