X Factor 2012 Results: Union J would be happy with ‘a tenth of One Direction’s success’
Union J have admitted that their big dream is to follow in the footsteps of One Direction.
The boyband were eliminated from the ITV series last night, after a tense results show with Christopher Maloney, Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur and as they within touching distance from the final they were voted off and their three fellow contestants went on to compete for the SYCO record deal.
The lads have insisted that it isn’t the end for them though and they compared themselves to One Direction who finished in third place two years ago and have went on to achieve world domination.
The band’s latest album ‘Take Me Home’ topped the charts in no less than 36 countries and tonight they will be performing in New York’s Madison Square Gardens.
Union J want a piece of that pie and speaking on Daybreak Josh said:
“I don’t think people realise how big One Direction are, they are humungous and they were in our position two years ago. Fingers crossed we can have half of their success, a tenth of their success, whatever.”
George Shelley is prepared to work hard to get there and he told Lorraine Kelly:
“This is where we need to be and we are so excited about the future. Yes we are gutted about not being in the final but we’re wiling to put the hard work in to make it happen. Our dream is to make it.”
The lads of course were put together by Louis Walsh and we had almost forgotten that they didn’t originally make judges houses.
They were a last minute addition to the lineup, after the Irish star decided that Triple J needed a new member and added George Shelley to the band. They then changed their name.
The group will be staying as a four piece going forward though and insisted:
“We are like four brothers and we have really bonded so much since the X Factor.”
Josh is still pretty sad though and he told his Twitter followers this morning:
“I am so gutted but so happy for the other 3. Had a great night with jahmene last night…amazing guy and a true gent. Big love josh x”
“Want to say a massive thanks to all of you for supporting us… you have all been amazing!!! i love you all JJx”
