X Factor 2012: Rylan Clark is the ‘backbone’ of the show but he’s still devastated over James Arthur & Ella Henderson
Caroline Flack is glad that Rylan Clark is still on The X Factor, because she thinks the series, both on and off air, would be worse without him.
Gary Barlow may have his problems with the former model’s singing, but he admitted recently that it’s Rylan that keeps the morale up backstage and apparently he is one of the most popular contestants from this year’s bunch.
Caroline agreed and reiterated his comments yesterday, and she praised Clark saying:
“The great thing about Rylan is that people are really warming to him and I’m so pleased because he is so nice.”
The Xtra Factor presenter added:
“He is such a pleasure to be around and he is the backbone of the show, he keeps everyone together. People are really enjoying his performances and looking forward to what he’s going to do.”
Rylan kicked off on Saturday’s show, telling Gary Barlow that most stars who put on staged performances like he does can’t sing live at the same time and he even called the Take That star fat…in so many words.
Gaz took the banter well and Caroline insisted that it was all in jest, telling Phil and Holly on This Morning:
“He is lucky that Gary took it so well but he did mean it as a joke and I really like the banter between those two, because you know it’s not serious.”
“It’s live, it’s spontaneous, this kind of thing isn’t rehearsed but I’m sure they go on there ready to go at each other.”
Rylan was in tears, actually he was sobbing on The Xtra Factor on Sunday night when Ella Henderson was eliminated.
He admitted that he felt ‘guilty’ that he survived while she and James Arthur sang against each other for survival and he insisted that his best pal should never have been in that position.
Clark took to Twitter after the show and revealed that he was still devastated to have lost the last girl in the competition. He tweeted:
“Tonight I’ve lost my little sister @ella_henderson . Her and @JamesArthur23 should not have been there. They are my 1st and 2nd. X”
However, it’s onwards and upwards and now Rylan goes on to perform on this weekend’s Abba / Motwon themed quarter final, where he will sing two songs on Saturday’s show.
