X Factor 2012: Gary Barlow tells Nicole Scherzinger she should be ‘ashamed’ of Rylan Clark’s Cleopatra like ‘Gold’ (VIDEO)
Rylan Clark brought his own brand of drama and controversy to the X Factor stage this evening.
The Essex born singer, who is being backed in the ITV series by his own celebrity supporters Amy Childs and Katie Price (that says it all doesn’t it?), has been much discussed ever since he won a place in Nicole Scherzinger’s final three over Jake Quickenden and Adam Burridge.
Although we agree with many viewers that he definitely isn’t the best singer in the comeptition, we have to admit that we see why bosses so badly wanted him on the live shows as we were dying to see him come on stage for the first time tonight, just to find out what outrageous outfit he had chosen for his debut and what sort of antics he would employ during his performance.
He was a dream contestant for Brian Friedman, as he totally threw himself into routining and staging with the creative director in a way that most hopefuls are too uncomfortable to do.
This evening Clark took on Spandau Ballet’s ‘Gold’ and was dressed from head to head in …you’ve guessed it ‘ a gold spangly outfit.
His metallic top was very lady like and he sang from a spinning gold podium, surrounded by dancers also dressed in….gold. It may have been predictable and cheesy but it was certainly fun and we loved his swirly eyeliner.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
LOUIS: I thought I had seen everything on the X Factor but that was amazing. You are a good singer and a brilliant performer.
GARY: Rylan, I wanted to have some fun this year and I really was until you started singing. I am embarrassed to be sat here. I said no to you at the first audition which means [pointing at judges] you should all be ashamed of yourself. Nicole, you had five amazing singers in your judges houses and you chose Rylan?
TULISA: It is cheesy and it is cabaret but you are an entertainer and your vocals were on point tonight.
NICOLE: Gary don’t be an old grumpy fart now. May I remind you of Take That’s Do What You Like. Rylan should we bring out the jello? Having the X Factor isn’t just about having the greatest voice, he has the entire package.

I enjoyed it he’s entertaining doesn’t deserve all of the bad press and death threats. I mean come on isn’t the X Factor a singing competition he’s not a mass murderer for God’s sake. Let’s not forget last year Gary subjected us all to the amazingly talented singer Frankie Cocozza last year maybe he should remember that before he gives such a harsh critique to Rylan.
Gary seems to really be struggling with becoming the bigger, harsher, and more crude version of Simon Cowell. What a load. All of Gary’s comments and finger pointing are what were the shame of that performance.

True. I’m from the United States, living in the UK now. At first I wondered who Gary was… my friend told me. I was like, “Who is Take That?” I had to find them on YouTube and still none of the songs rang bells. I’m 38 years old. They would have been popular shortly after I graduated high school. Being into music (of all types) since I was a young child, I was SURE I would have heard them and just not retained them. The only name that rang anything with me was when I saw Robbie’s name. I then said, “Oh, I know ONE of them!!!”
Gary certainly isn’t gaining any points with people from abroad, and I’m gathering that he’s not well liked on his own turf.
How long have you been in the UK? I can understand not knowing of Take That if you’ve moved over recently, as American’s are generally pretty ignorant to the majority of British talent, but if you’ve been over for a while and don’t know them I think that says more about you than them.
That isn’t meant as an insult! But Take That ARE big.
I see Gary still doesn’t know what role he wants to fulfill on this show. Quite harsh, even if he speaks some truth. I wonder if he still has a comedian write down material for him to awkwardly shoe in; if so Rylan should look forward to some more insults coming his way for every week he survives.
I’m still miffed at Gary for screwing Sophie over last year.

Are you just jealous coz your must be a Gay one. And,fancying Gary Barlow and too bitter that you can’t have him! And commenting here that Gary can’t gaining points from people abroad. Many are watching that Crap show becoz of Gary. Not bcoz of the Simon’s Lapdog Louis, not even bcoz of Tulisa and Nicole “Jokerly” Scherzinger (her name is German means the Joker/Funny one.
louis should be retired now to save rylan over carolynne and getting his group to sing that queen song shows hes completely out of touch
