X Factor 2012: Simon Cowell reportedly trying to lure Will.i.am away from The Voice & he wants Cheryl Cole back too!
As we reported recently, despite rivalry between The X Factor and The Voice, Simon Cowell has been spending a good deal of time with Voice coach Will.i.am who he invited to mentor Britney Spears’ acts on X Factor USA.
It’s also been reported recently that Simon and Will are collaborating on a new talent quest show which would aim to find “the next Bill Gates.”
And today, the Mirror reports that Simon’s wooing of Will has an ulterior motive as the paper claims that the X Factor guru is hoping to “lure” Will away from The Voice to work with him and his X Factor franchise.
It’s also been reported that Simon’s keen to work with Cheryl Cole again – who is of course managed by Will – so he’s seemingly keen on a twofer deal.
A senior X Factor production insider told the paper, “We need to do something dramatic and this would be a coup…
“It would give us the best judging line-up in X Factor history.”
The paper adds, “Bosses think if they nab Will.i.am from BBC show The Voice he might convince Cheryl to finally forgive Simon and return to the judging panel.”
And indeed, after declaring last year that she would never work with or for Simon again, Cheryl recently rescinded a tad and said, “Never say never.”
She added, “We’re ‘frenemies’. I’ve spoken to him many times since. If you are asking if there were interesting conversations – absolutely.”
The insider added, “One of the problems this year has been the judges so that’s what we need to address.
“Will would be the best person on the planet to persuade Cheryl that one last hurrah could be fun. Though we realise it would be expensive.”
Last night, a rep for Simon’s company Syco declined to comment on plans to bring back Cheryl.
What do you think? Would you like to see Cheryl and Will on The X Factor?
