X Factor 2012: The Queen to honour Gary Barlow with an OBE! Well done Gazbomb!
X Factor judge, and all round good egg Gary Barlow of course played a huge part in putting together the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert, which of course took place last weekend.
He also, along with Andrew Lloyd Webber, put together the rather ruddy marvelous ‘Sing’, which featured music and artists from all over the Commonwealth.
And today, the Sun reports that Her Maj was so pleased with Gary, and so impressed with his efforts, that she’s to award him an OBE.
OBE is an acronym for Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, which is an order of chivalry that was established on 4 June 1917 by George V…
The news about Gary’s honour will be officially announced with the release of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List next Saturday.
A senior Royal source told the paper, “The Queen was delighted with Gary Barlow’s brilliant work and dedication.
“She made it clear he should be rewarded at the first available opportunity.
“Mr Barlow was told of Her Majesty’s offer a few weeks ago. He was quite surprised, but he has accepted it.”
The paper adds, “The OBE is also to reflect Gary’s career. He’s had a string of No1 singles and albums both solo and in the band, including Take That & Party.”
Bravo Gazbomb – he likes it when I call him that. You did us proud!
