X Factor 2012: Kye Sones makes it to bootcamp after Rita Ora mashup (VIDEO)
After Rylan Clark gave a rather underwhelming performance at the start of tonight’s X Factor show, we were glad to hear some real talent during Kye Sones‘ performance.
The 30 year old singer from Middlesex revealed that he was working as a chimney sweep but hoping to become a global music star, having spent years trying to make it in the industry.
The singer / songwriter emerged on stage and confessed that he was desperate for his big ‘break,’ saying he was sick of travelling the country to play in tiny pubs and their toilets, for people that didn’t appreciate the effort.
We think his time for tiny gigs and a day job could be over for a few weeks at least, as once he sang it became clear that Kye had a real talent and stood a clear chance at making the X Factor live shows.
He sang Rita Ora’s RIP mashed with Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save The World’, which was a handy song choice given that Rita was standing in as a guest judge in London that day. She was a big fan and after the tryout told Kye that she loved the ‘cool’ twist he brought to the track. She thought he was a real life, ‘actual superstar.’
The regular judges all gave a standing ovation after the performance and Tulisa insisted that his voice could sell albums and that she could listen to him ‘all day long.’
Louis Walsh said that he was ‘born to sing’ and not to clean chimneys and raved that he had the elusive ‘X Factor’ they were all looking for.
Gary Barlow gave the highest praise though, saying that he was not just impressed but ‘excited’ by Kye’s audition and gushed about the fact that he wasn’t just a singer but a fully fledged ‘artist’ who could accomplish so much. He added:
‘This is someone who knows exactly how he should sound and what he should be singing.’
Unsurprisingly, Sones won four yeses and a place in bootcamp. Do you think he deserved it? Do you think Kye is good enough for the live shows? Leave your comments below….
