Alexandra Burke has revealed that she would love to join the X Factor judging panel on a full time basis.
The former show winner hasn’t enjoyed the best success with her recent single and album releases and it seems that she’s ready to move into TV work on a more frequent basis.
The brunette beauty has guest judged on the show before, and replaced Kelly Rowland for a weekend in 2011, when the US singer was stuck in America and unable to make it back to London for the live shows.
That stint just whet her appetite and Alex is keen to make a comeback. She told Digital Spy that she would be honoured to join the ITV show if the opportunity arose and explained:
“Once was definitely not enough, it gave me a taste for it. If the opportunity came about I would love it – to go out there and find the next music star would be a fantastic experience. If Simon asked I would definitely consider it. It would be an honour.”
It’s been reported that Tulisa is facing the axe from the panel this year, while Gary Barlow has hinted that he is ready to quit. Rita Ora confirmed last week that producers had asked her to replace one of the stars, but she’d turned them down, preferring to concentrate on her own music career for now.
Burke has no problem replacing Contostavlos or Barlow, but she doesn’t want to step on Louis Walsh’s toes and insisted:
“Can I just say though, Louis ain’t going anywhere!”
Brian McFadden thinks differently though and he thinks it’s time for old Lou Lou to step down and give another Irish man a chance.
The former Westlife star currently judges on Australia’s Got Talent but is ready to move back to the UK. He’d love to join the X Factor’s panel but knows he’ll have to wait for Walsh to kick the bucket first.
He told STV: “I’m going to be the next judge on X Factor, I’m just waiting for Louis Walsh to pass away! It’s in the contract, as soon as Louis dies, it’s in his will that I take his seat, so any day now!”
He added: “I love Louis on that show, he’s so honest. And I love the way he’s so patriotic, if there’s anyone from Ireland he thinks they’re amazing. He’s afraid their parents will bump into him in the street and give him a slap!”
