X Factor 2013: Dermot O’Leary to “risk the wrath” of Simon Cowell by dancing with Strictly’s Darcey Bussell at NTAs!
It’s no secret that The X Factor is – while the shows air at least – a rival of Strictly Come Dancing so it may come as something of a surprise then to learn that X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary is to dance with Strictly judge Darcey Bussell at the forthcoming National Television Awards.
However, the rivalry has of course mostly been light-hearted, but nonetheless, The Sun writes, “Dermot O’Leary is risking the wrath of Simon Cowell after agreeing to dance with Darcey Bussell from X Factor’s TV rival.”
Dermot, who is hosting this year’s NTAs, will chuck on a tuxedo and dance a quickstep with Darcey on the show, and the paper adds that he’s even going to attempt to lift the ballet dancer during their routine…
An unnamed source said, “Dermot is game for a laugh but he is slightly concerned that Darcey and all her skills will make him look a bit daft.
“He’s no stranger to dancing and has made quite a thing of it on The X Factor.
“But doing something like the quickstep in front of millions of viewers is obviously quite a tall order.”
Apparently, the show’s bosses are hoping there’ll be some will-they-won’t-they tension about the lift.
The source added, “On the night, Darcey will come on stage and then look to surprise Dermot by asking him if he’ll join her for a dance.
“He could say no, of course. Viewers will have to wait and see what happens.”
The NTAs will air live on ITV on January 23rd, but for now, here’s a look at last year’s highlights…
