The New Year is quite a big time for any of The X Factor acts that appeared on the latest series of the ITV talent show.

The acts’ contracts with the show will soon be expiring, which means they will be able to sign to whichever record label they want. Well, providing the offer is there anyway. However, Simon Cowell & Sony have first dibs on the contestants and it seems like the company has already snapped up a few.

We knew all along that Tamera Foster would be given a deal with one of the Sony arms. Simon has said a few times on Twitter that he really likes her and that she has a lot of potential, so we kind of saw that coming. However, it doesn’t seem like we will be seeing music from Tamera any time soon as she has been given a development deal as she needs time to become more confident, according to The Sun.

There is of course the winner of The X Factor 2013, Sam Bailey who has quite a big record deal with the company and she is expected to put out her first album in the spring.

Meanwhile, it has been rumoured that Rough Copy and Nicholas McDonald will also be very busy in the new year as they’ve been offered record deals by Sony & Co.

It is thought that Rough Copy will join the Epic subsidiary of the Sony label and Nicholas McDonald will go over to RCA.

However, one act that has been snubbed is Luke Friend as it’s looking unlikely that he will get any sort of deal at Sony. But we’re sure record labels will be lining up to sign him.

An insider told the newspaper: “No final decisions have yet been taken on who aside from Sam Bailey will get deals. But Cowell and Sony have their eyes on Rough Copy and Nicholas who are likely to get snapped up next month.

“Despite growing through the show, it is looking unlikely that Like will get a deal within Sony, although he is sure to have interest from other companies.

“Other acts like Kingsland Road are sure to bag deals – but they’ll have to wait three months until they can do so”.
