X Factor 2013: ITV confirm X Factor will “be around for quite some time!” Woohoo!
There has of course been much speculation that The X Factor would end after this year’s series, and that seemed to be confirmed by Simon Cowell’s ‘friend’ Sinitta last year when she told Closer magazine, “I’m told next year is going to be the last.
“It’ll have been ten years.”
However, ITV executive Adam Crozier has blasted that rumour as untrue and revealed that the show will be “around for quite some time.”
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Crozier added, “It remains a very important programme for ITV.”
However, he admitted, “We’ve got to make sure we improve it and get it right.
“Funnily enough, we did the same with I’m A Celebrity, which dipped a little bit two years ago, and it has been back stronger than ever.
“It is perfectly possible to do it.
“All these shows need a bit of love and attention and for things to change to keep people interested.”
The paper adds, “Mr Crozier also hinted that ITV will create a new channel soon – and may even charge viewers.”
He said, “I think there are other potential channels we could do, both free and pay-for.”
But returning to X Factor, this year’s auditions began in March, calling at London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow.
Auditions in front of the judges began this month, and auditionees who were successful in the so-called ‘room auditions’ will go on to perform in arena auditions later on in the summer.
We will of course see the highlights of those auditions – as well as Boot Camp and Judges’ Houses – when the show returns to our screens in the autumn.
For now, here’s a reminder of last year’s final…
