Fans of The X Factor will of course know that the fabulous Sharon Osbourne has returned to the judging panel this year, having replaced shamed former judge Tulisa Contostavlos…
However, her fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger has joked that Sharon has “brought out the worst in all of us” with her outrageous antics during this year’s auditions.
But while speaking to The Sun’s TV Biz, Nicole also revealed that she very nearly didn’t come back to X Factor this year, and was only persuaded to by Gary Barlow.
She explained that she wasn’t sure she would return to the show as she wanted to concentrate fully on her forthcoming new album.
She said, “I wasn’t sure [about coming back]. I’ve got to get the music right.
“I’m an artist and I haven’t felt confident enough with the stuff I’m doing.
“I haven’t felt like I’ve got enough of a cohesive album that I’m proud of to put out. And this takes up a lot of time, you know.
“And I always commit myself 110 per cent. So I was torn. But then Gaz texted me and I said, ‘Yes’.
“Fortunately I love the people here and they give so much love back.”
And of how she’s been getting on with Mrs O, Nicole said, “She has brought out the worst in all of us in the best way. I love Sharon.
“Last year when they asked, ‘Who do you want back?’… I actually said Sharon — Mrs O — because she brought me on to X Factor.
“She took me under her wing and she is really lovely as a woman. It’s really nice to see other women in the industry who are kind and give empowerment to others. That’s rare.
“Girls, we’re catty and there’s insecurity. But she’s a special breed, she’s just awesome. She’s outrageous and fun and a riot.”
She added, “I look at Mrs O as the queen of this show because she was here the first four years.
“And Simon is definitely the king of it. I wouldn’t be here without her.”
