Shelley Smith has admitted that she was ready for elimination from the X Factor last night.
The 35 year old mum of one found out yesterday that she was in the singoff for the second time, despite a rather raunchy performance of Beyonce’s Single Ladies on the love and heartbreak themed Saturday show.
She sang against Kingsland Road but looked defeated before she even began and speaking on today’s Daybreak show, the Devonshire Diva revealed that she wasn’t surprised when the judges chose to save the boyband over her.
I think I was ready for it, I thought it was going to happen. It wasn’t a massive shock.
Because I was the bottom of the vote first week I kind of expected it. I was hoping not to be, but it doesn’t matter, I’m fine.
Smith has gotten close to her mentor Sharon Osbourne on the ITV show and was full of praise for the reality TV matriarch, saying:
She is the best, honestly she is the best. She has been absolutely brilliant to work with. She is so funny, she is really feisty. She’s been a real help to me. She’s given me loads of advice and she’s great to be around.
Louis Walsh said last night that he thinks Shels could have a big career on the West End stage. She’s just hoping she doesn’t have to go back to driving a white van for a living and said:
I have never though about it but I’ll see what happens. I love singing, I love performing, so I hope to continue to.
Former X Factor contestant Melanie McCabe was sad to see Shelley leaving last night and tweeted:
“Aw no poor Shelley and she’s such a genuinely lovely woman,at least she gets to go back to her little girl 💗”
