Sam Bailey chose a massive belter number for tonight’s X Factor show and it’s clear she wants to prove her vocal strengths and go back to her roots for the quarter final.
The mum of two has been the bookies favourite to win the whole way through the competition, but she’s taking no chances and when she was told she could choose her own song for tonight’s show, Sam knew exactly what she wanted.
Bailey took us back to the 80s with a powerful rendition of the Whitney Houston hit ‘How Will I Know?’ and the former prison officer used the tune to show off every part of her range and all her vocal skills.
Taking to twitter before the live show, Sam admitted that she was feeling ‘nervous’ and we don’t know why, she hasn’t had a properly negative comment from the judges yet. She has managed to avoid the bottom two every week also.
Before singing Sam got talking about her life before the show and while she was a little bored, she revealed in her VT she’s missing her routine. Things have been very hectic for her this week, after she hit the Royal Variety Performance on Thursday and met Harry Hill and then returned too the studio for hours and hours of rehearsals.
However all that practice paid off for Bailey, because she totally knocked her song out of the park tonight!
Looking rather fabulous in her sparkly top and tight black trousers, Sam strutted her stuff like a real diva. She danced but her vocals didn’t suffer at all. We hate it when Louis Walsh says it, but she really did own that stage!
Gary Barlow: Well done Sam. Well done. You know I always had you pencilled down as the big ballad singer, but brilliant job, you approached it like a proper singer, lots of light and shade, Another stunning performance!
Louis Walsh: You make it look so easy, that’s your talent. It’s effortless every single week. There is a space in the UK market for a girl like you. Absolutely brilliant.
Nicole Scherzinger: Sam this was the first song I recorded, you just sang the heck out of it. You did it justice, but I feel the production felt a little like a cruise ship version. I loved the choreography but it felt that way.
Sharon Osbourne: You went out of your comfort zone, you pushed yourself and I think the cruise ship you [Nicole] saw her on was called the O2!
