X Factor 2013: Sharon Osbourne sends ‘sensational’ Melanie McCabe to bootcamp ‘Titanium’ (VIDEO)
Melanie McCabe has made through the initial X Factor rounds a few times before, so she very much knew what to expect when she returned to perform in London’s Wembley Arena recently.
The 19 year old Dublin singer made it to judges houses in 2011 but was sent home by Kelly Rowland. In her closed room audition this year – which was featured on last night’s show – Gary Barlow was glad to have her back though and told her it was the ‘best audition of the day’. Tonight, before she sang David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ for the panel, the nervous Irish girl admitted:
I’m a bit nervous, but I’m ok. Singing is kind of the only thing I have ever been good at. I feel like the person I am supposed to be when I sing. I can’t even put it into words, how much today means for me, it could significantly change my life and my family’s life.
My family have been so supportive of me over the years. We don’t really have a lot of money, as I’m sure most family’s don’t. Basically we are losing our house at the moment and I am at this point where everything is falling down around me and I want something good to happen.
This is definitely my last chance to do X Factor. I just wanted to give it one more go. I need to sing for my life basically.
Her vocals made quite the impression on the judges and after the performance Sharon raved:
“Melanie, I don’t know what went on with you and this show before each time you tried, I was not here, I don’t care. I think you are sensational.”
“Melanie you are a great vocalist and you have a great stage presence, although you completely knocked it out of the park today, I think there is another level with you.”
Nicole Scherzinger said:
“Melanie you not only have this great big voice but you have this effortless control. Beautiful job. You really impressed me.”
Louis Walsh was crying again and added:
“Oh Melanie, I wanted you to be so good today and you were absolutely amazing. I don’t know what happened last year. I think you’re a star and it’s not because you’re from Dublin.”
Unsurprisingly then, Melanie got four yeses from the judges and won herself a spot in bootcamp. Do you think she can make the live shows this time round? Leave your comments below…
