X Factor 2013: Take That’s Gary Barlow made up with Simon Cowell and is coming back!
Gary Barlow has decided to return to the X Factor for a third series, it has been reported this morning.
Insiders say the Take That star met with show boss Simon Cowell when he was in London attending The Brit Awards last week and the pair apparently settled some differences that had been causing problems between them.
Gary was miffed with the X Factor boss after he branded him ‘wooden’ in his biography and the book also claimed that Simon was jealous and irritated when Barlow was awarded an OBE by the Queen but elated when the singer was named as one star taking part in a tax avoidance scheme, along with a number of his Take That bandmates.
It was reported that when the 2012 series drew to a close, Gary informed producers he had no intention of coming back and was determined to refocus on his own music career and on a new Take That tour.
However, something seems to have changed, as The Mirror is reporting today that the dad of three and TV boss have patched up their differences and Gaz is intending to rejoin the panel.
A source told the newspaper:
“Simon and Gary are in a good place now – and Gary looks a good bet to be back on the show this year.”
Another insider added: “ITV, Simon and X Factor execs all met up in the last few weeks. They have come up with a list of judges they want – and Gary is one of them.”
If Barlow is coming back, we’d take that as a pretty clear sign that Simon’s not, as Gary hinted last year that he couldn’t work alongside the music mogul.
He told The Mirror recently:
“Could I judge alongside Simon Cowell if he came back? Mmm, I don’t know.”
Gary added, “I have enjoyed this series more than last year but the show feels like it has been going on for a year this time.
“If this is my last year, I’ve had a lot of fun and enjoyed every minute.”
So who will be alongside the Take That singer then? Well rumours suggest that Mel B could take a seat on the panel, if she can work the auditions around her America’s Got Talent commitments.
Other insiders have suggested that Sharon Osbourne may be back, though some claim she will actually be heading to the Australian version instead.
Cheryl Cole’s name has been in the frame also, with reports suggesting that she has also made up with Simon recently and is keen to make a TV comeback.
