X Factor: Alan Walton needs a count in

First up on tomorrow night’s X Factor show is Alan Walton, aged 50 from Birmingham.

“My name is Alan, I’m 50 years old and from Weoley Castle, which is in Birmingham. My musical roots is in Karaoke and that’s where I’ve developed my singing. When I sing there, they enjoy it and it goes down well, you know…I’d love to win The X Factor, you know, produce a good song, do some CD’s and go round world on tour, I’d quite enjoy being a rock star really,” smiles Alan.

Alan goes on stage, Simon greets him.

Simon – “How old are you Alan?”

Alan – “I’m 50 years old.”

Simon – “Where are you from?”

Alan – “Weoley Castle in Northfield, that’s just outside Birmingham.”

Simon (confused) – “Weoley Castle? Where’s that?”

Alan – “Er, you know the Bristol Rd?”

Audience laugh

Simon – “Yep, I do…yes”

Alan – “Go straight down there, go past the Selly Oak hospital, past the big police station on your left and just keep going through and you’re there.”

Simon – “Arh, I know.”

Audience applaud

Simon – “What would you do if you won competition?”

Alan – “I’d buy my council flat.”

Simon wishes Alan well and he starts singing – he starts looking at his arm as all the words are written down in biro…

He starts singing ‘No Matter What’ by Boyzone and is out of time with the track so Simon stops him.

Simon – “You’re completely out of time with the song because you came in so late.”

Alan – “Well what it is, I was sort of timing myself in, can you give me a queue in?”

Simon – “I don’t know when you’re supposed to come in – lets try one more time, you time in and then just give the queue.”

Alan – “Hold on, let me just get my watch ready.”

Alan starts singing once the audience queue him in – has he got what it takes to timely sail through to next round?

The X Factor airs on ITV1 at 7pm
