X Factor: Amy Connolly Doing It For her Mum!

Young Amy Connolly was seen wowing the judges and reducing Cheryl Cole to tears on last night’s X Factor TV show, and today Amy has told The Mirror that she would love to win the show for her mum.

Amy’s mum died of breast cancer aged 45 when she was just seven. Amy added that she would also dedicate her win to her 61 year old dad who has always been her strength.

She said: “I think I’m a strong person to have gone through that so young. But the experience of losing her has given me the oomph to go out and do it. I want to win it for my mum. And I want to make my dad proud after bringing me up on his own. He encouraged me to sing and told me my mum had a good voice. So maybe I get that from her.”

Amy you are a beautiful person I felt you were singing that song for my little baby girl who died on christmas eve. I am a mum first I had breast cancer after my second child and I know how important it is to know your mum is with you. I now have two boys and thank God for them – but your singing is something else. I pray to God that your dream will come true. I think anyone who is grieving for a loved one will share and empathise with you. You will always be an angel as well as a super star. Simon is amazing and I know he will ensure you will capture the world with your unique gift. From my heart I thank you for that wonderful, amazing sincere performance. I thank the X-factor for discovering you and giving you the recognition you so readily deserve.
