Hi my husband phoned “The X Factor” on my behalf but forgot to tell me!! I recieved a letter last week to say that i had an audition on the 11th May in the Millenium Stadium Cardiff. My first thought was to put it in the bin as i felt sick inside thinking that im not as good as he thinks iam. They say love is blind but im hoping he maybe abit short sighted!! Anyway i have decided to go for it and see it as an experiance, You only live once!! As my husband said ” you are getting on now” Im only 32 so what the hell im going for it!! Good luck to everyone.

    (On Sunday, 13 April 2008 at 9:27 pm) ”

I went yesterday and had a letter, but it appeared that they auditioned anyone who showed. There was not very much order to it and we were there till after 8pm. The people auditioned early were given more time than the people who finally got up late in the evening.

The Producers of the X Factor have a wonderful opportunity to do something great for hope in the world and I am surprised that yesterday was what it was considering what it could have been.

Perhaps they are going about it differently then I would and their way of ‘waking people up’ is the way of the hard lesson. We all know it’s time for the world to be a better place, it’s just a matter of us all ‘waking up’ and making it so.

    Love & Light to all

  24. Orla Tierney says:

Hi everyone, auditioned last Saturday 19th April in Manchester. Don’t bother going. It’s a total joke! You are left outside in the cold for HOURS, being told by the TV people to scream for the cameras etc.etc. Then you have to audition outside! Imagine trying to sing in the freezing cold when your hands and feet are numb! They basically don’t give a damn about the auditionees, they just want good TV and we’re all supposed to be puppets for the cameras. That’s the impression I got anyway! Never again!

  25. Carl says:

    Hi everyone!

I autioned for the x factor last year at the open audition at the Emirates Stadium (arsenal fc’s ground) in london! arrived at 11pm on the friday nite…camped outside all nite, not getting any sleep as almost everyone was drunk etc…as someone else already said here…we all had 2 scream for the camera’s etc as the london open audition was being filmed for the opening scenes for the new series (2007). lots of people were changing, doping hair&make up etc but was pointless…u only sing infront of a producer..outside..tired etc! & it was so warm that day! Ray Quinn performed for the crowd (for like a minute)…free water was given out as it was so hot, got 2 meet Simon, Danni, Sharon, Brian, Fearne Cotton & Dermot O’Leary 2! but it was a VERY long day so be prepared! for me queing at 11pm the previous nite…i was about 200th inline haha! so get there early & try try try get some rest! im not sure if the pre-arranged auditions are the same tho! i have an audition in glasgow this year on May 5th at 8am! hopefully get seen at 8 then home :) heres hoping!! good luck to all auditioning!

  26. kaza says:

    heya evry1

does any one know when the auditions are for london because i applied but havent recived any letter has anyone else recived a letter for the london audtions??

  27. Phil says:

Hey Guys I went along to the Manchester auditions and cleared 3 rounds, just waiting on a call to let me know if I will sing in front of the judges. All the auditions are open this year, so its not too late for anyone, find out the venue and date for the one nearest to you, get there early as it is maddnes…I was at old trafford for 10 hours, but it was worth it. If you dont wait around all day for a big break someone else will. Good Luck all, dont be nervous and its easy…its only producers the dont bite they want you to be good!!! Phil :-)

  28. Mr Bob says:

  35. Amy says:

I totally agree with the comments about the auditons at least in Manchester. My boyfriend and I went on the 20th April to audition and the set up was ridiculous. I suffer badly with asthma and ended up with my chest feeling very tight due to the cold weather which stopped me from auditioning. it was my dream to audition and all it got me was eneding up ill.

  36. Lucy Caouki says:

So just wondering is there two types of auditions, open auditions and ones you have to apply for because I’m very confused. Also have they not sent out the letters for London yet because i haven’t got mine.

  43. owen says:

    hey…

I went to the manchester first round auditions on 19th april, and waited outside for 10 hours, which was so horrendous.
I was shivering from head to toe and didnt think I would even be able to sing due to that, and the fact that I had a bad throat.

Anyway after all the waiting and freezing, I was given a golden ticket and so got through the first round.

I was then told to come back 3 days later for my next audition, and during the time in between this audition I found out I had acute laryngitis, bordering on tonsilitis.

I decided to go to the audition anyway thinking they would give me the benefit of the doubt, or even let me attend at a different date, but not one of the people involved with the show were at all understanding, and said I had to have my audition on that day, or come back next year.

I was gutted about that, but decided i’d stay, as my voice was ok but not upto my normal standard.

anyway, as you probably guessed, I didnt get through and the producers I sang to didnt seem to care.

i’m not saying this to be bitter but to warn people that if you become ill or your voice becomes strained around the times of the auditions, the people involved will NOT be understanding, and basically do not care about your individual sircumstances, whether you have an amazing voice or not.

i’m slowly getting better so i’ve decided to travel to london attend the auditions there when I find out the date, since all of the previous auditions have been open, which is pathetic since I bothered to send an application.

  44. rachael says:

hiya i was wondering if there is an open audition for the x factor 2008 this year. if there is, were is it and what time?

  48. Atlanta says:

I won’t to know when the audition in London is and what if you don’t get reply.
How many audition do you have to undergo before you can sing in front of the real judges Simon, Sharon

  49. Syed Mujtaba Zaidi says:

I have applied for the x factor 2008 auditions back in 2007 but haven’t heared from them yet, I am thinking my invitation for auditions could have been lost in post as i have recently moved to a new address. I applied from the new address too but haven’t heared from them yet. I don’t want to miss the chance. I really want to go for x factor.

  50. lucy teale says:

  53. Welsh Girl says:

Hi, my dad has just auditioned for X Factor and hasn’t got through!..i dont understand how rubbish singers can get through when people with talent like my father, doesn’t get through! i think it’s terrible to be honest!

  54. claire says:

Hey just been at the glasgow auditions, its an absolute joke. They dont explain to you that you have to have three auditions and an interview before you even see the judges. I got through which im very pleased about and im awaiting my letter form the producers but to be honest im not holdong my breathe because its a fix. It doesnt matter how good a singer you are if you dont have a sob story or a wooden leg you wont get on the show, anyway good luck everyone

  55. scott burnam-richard says:

  56. kim says:

can anyone tell me what dates are left for the x factor auditions and the date and place of the x factor open day please as i have searched the site and haven’t found any dates

  57. Tasmyn says:

I went for an audition today at Cardiff and I didnt get through!
It’s not fair that they were letting really bad singers through and people with talent slip away.

I had some guy from the record company audition me and he was horrible. I didnt think he was very proffesional and I feel awful for the people who get put through to have their hopes crushed by the REAL judges.

Dermot O’Leary was only one who cared for keeping up our spirits.
I’m going to audition again next year and see if I can get through the awful producers as they are the ones to beat!

  58. marge spencer says:

Hi,i recieved a letter to attend an audition in Birmingham on the 28th of this month,i dnt know how but i lost d letter,i kept it in my diary&i tbring my diary everywhwere with me!Does anyone know where its held in birmingham on that day?And does anyone know if they would have my name down even if i havnt got the letter????Helppppp

  62. Robert Scott says:

    hi Daniella,

ive got my letter for the Birmingham auditions in front of me and it says the “first audition date” is the 18th of May (this Sunday – argh!) with recall dates on the 19th May and 6th June.

Are you sure its the 28th and the not the 18th??? wouldn’t want you to miss it! Although, im guessing that if there are seperate dates the 28th auditions will be held in the same place as the 18th. So to answer your question the audition venue is aston villa football stadium at 8:00am, soloists at the “Holte” stand, and groups at the “Trinity” stand. My letter says “you must bring your letter with you to your first audition”, but i reckon its worth going without anyway!

Good luck, hope it goes ok! Rob x

  63. teresa g says:

  73. abbie tabberer says:

    hello everyone,

I went to the birmingham auditions yesterday at aston villa footy stadium adn 19,000 people turned up!! I got through to todays auditions… only 700 of us out of the 19,000 got called bk for today so i was proud of myself :) … I then went bk today and sang infront of the sony recording contract ppl but they dint put me through :( …. u have 5 auditions infront of producres etc before u actually get to see the real judges!!

Someone said that at the London open auditions last year, Simon and the other judges were there… was that your first audition and did u sing in front of them? Only 15 ppl from birmingham are being recalled to sing infront of the actual judges!! I’m well disappointed :(

    xx

  74. sinead says:

hey..i live in Dublin, I didn’t apply for any auditions but I’m wondering if anyone can give me exact dates, times and places of any open auditions..Can you defiantly just show up without having applied?? I’m willing to travel anywhere..Also could anybody give me a site I can check the dates etc with?
    Thanks so much

  75. Nicola says:

    Sinead,

Im going to the london auditions that are on this weekend and on my letter it says that nobody will be granted entry without that letter to get them in. I think its best to do some more research before u make travel arrangements etc, otherwise you might have a wasted journey.

  76. barry says:

heys . . just wondering is there any opening date for x factor 2008 ! deadlines are closed and im desperate for a chance :( !

  77. david says:

hi all,i auditioned at hamden in glasgow, got golden ticket through to next stage, wentback following day, auditioned again, got a red ticket through to the afternoons audition in front of about 5 people, cameras on you as well, the reason for this was most likely so they can look back and see who was good and who was crap.d-day tomorrow sa i should find out if my journey begins…..or ends.good luck everyone, lose your nerves and go for it.

  78. david says:

does anyone know if you are still contacted after third audition by letter if your not going through?or is it just those who are who get contacted.

  79. Danny C says:

hey y’all! i applied last year and recieved my letter the other day.. my audition is at London O2 on Sunday 25th May.. if anyone wants to chat about it or has useful info, add me to MSN, crazy_essex_lad@hotmail.com .. everyone has always said ive got talent, i went last year and it was at the Emirates Stadium.. didnt get through, the judge seemed moody and told me to sing an upbeat song, we were waiting for hours in the heat and my voice was so dry and tired.. maybe ill have better luck this year!!

  80. Michael says:

    Hi all!
I am auditionning on Monday26 in London O2. I am so excited about this. It was always my dream to sing and after 27 years i decided to pursue it! I am so scared that all will end with this audition but in the same time excited about a possible dream beginning! so I need your advice!!! what song? i was thinking of My Way for frank Sinatra. it is the song i feel most relaxed with and could help me control my crazy feelings that day!!!

  81. Michael says:

David? Did you go as a normal guy or dressed up or something?

  82. Bee says:

Hey has any1 from the Glasgow auditions that got through the 1st two rounds recieved their phone call to say they’re through to see the judges? Its been 2 weeks! This is driving me insane!!!!!!!
    xxx

  83. david says:

hi michael, hopefully i went as a normal guy, sang loud and proud…..but in answer to bees question, the guy who i got talkin to at the third audition and exchanged numbers with said he got a call 4 days later to say he was through to sing in front the judges, even though there was no mention of anyone getting calls,we were told that we would all find out in 2 wks by post.(am i sounding slightly pissed off}anyway,my 2 wk wait was up yesterday so i aint holdin my breath.back to workin and dreamin.

  84. Michael says:

    what song should I pick???
My Way or Angels or Home?

sing anything your confident at performing,i sang a ballad at the second audition, and as 2 songs were asked for i sang something
up-beat,which the producer advised i perform at the third,i also think its a good idea to try and pick something thats not going to be heard a thousand times that day,eg,angels, amazed, etc, but thats just my opinion michael.good luck.ps is there anyone out there whos actually recieved a letter after third audition, you would think they would have the decency to at least inform you either way, obviously, decency doesnt apply

  86. Michael says:

Hi David! Thanks for the advice! I will sing what seems more natural to me. I really hope they get back to you soon! it must be so annoying to wait! cheers, Btw i will go there early does it help in any way?

I’m going to the audition tomorrow- I’m kind of nervous, but excited. It says no letter- no admittance, so unless you’re local to London I wouldn’t just turn up, in case it’s a waster journey. I hope I get through.

Good luck to everyone, see you tomorrow

  93. kellie says:

i auditioned for the x factor on the 20th april i couldnt belive it it was god dam cold we had to wait 8 hours i have a very good voice but i lost my nerve i couldnt belive it im auditioning next year could anyone tell me if its going too be indoors as i could not stand in the cold for 8 hours lol.

  94. Rachel says:

Heyaaaa, ive just got back from the london auditions, what an actual nightmare!
arrived at 10pm saturday, queued for 9 and a half hours, 3hours of filming inside and “silent screaming”….all to then lose my nerve after being so colin the terrential rain, to be told…odnt wory com back next year!!!

i was saddened as they said we had 3minutes to sing, i managed to say my name, and took a few seconds before i started to sing as i was bloody freezing and was so nervous s i was singing in front of the 2nd head of Sony BMG…of course you would be nervous, but he didnt even let me start and said he liked my look, buti obviously wasnt ready….!!! i didnt eveven sing!
    gutted.

so anyway, i was wondering, is it pssible to turn up to the auditions with simon, sharon and louis, without passing the preiminary stages, as i sware so many people o every yeaaaar??? xxxx

  95. Darren says:

Like Rachel, I too went to today’s auditions (Sun 25 May 08 in London)

and I have similar experiences. So many people were heard to be saying they didn’t understand what the judges were looking for. “He sang brilliantly but got a no” and so on and so on.

I was told I sang just like the guy after me – I got a no (I thought I did OK) and he got a yes. Baffled…

I, and a few others, get the feeling it’s not about how you sing, it’s whether you make great TV or not.
The questions the judge asks you:
    -Your name
    -Your age (??!!)
-What you do for a living
    -Where you’re from
    -Why you’re at the X-Factor

There’s a rumour that if you tell a sob-story to “Why you’re at the X-Factor” then you’ll get through – but if you’re bland then you won’t get through. I’d support that theory after what I experienced today.

    Another complaint of mine:
If you’re an extra, you’ll get paid about 55 pounds a day. Yet they use the crowd as extras to do filming for about 3 hours. The actual audition process took only one hour. So I was in the queue at 05:30, was number 655 in the queue (a man came round with a counter so I knew that), the doors didn’t open until 08:50 yet we were stuck outside in the pouring rain whilst they got their filming done. Then once everyone was loaded into the auditorium (which was about 11:10) then we had to perform, silently as Rachel says, for camera.

About 12:10 we started the audition process, which is actually quite mundane, and I got to the audition about 1:00pm, did my 2 minutes, was told “no” and then just left.

I’ve lost faith in the XFactor – I think it might just be not about the talent, but about making interesting TV.

  96. Darren says:

Oh, one other thing about this “Do we need the letter?” question.

As you walk in, you’re given a sticket with a big number on it if you’re auditioning.

You’re also given a seat ticket (whether you’re auditioning or not, you’re given a seat ticket if you’re, for example, supporting someone)

At no point was I asked for my letter. I reckon people can just turn up to be honest…

  97. Dan says:

all i will say is that i am so sooo disappointed in this show.. i was there yesterday for the London auditions and they were saying no to soooo many talented people.. they judges were rude, the dickhead bloke who kept telling people to do all this waving and screaming for the cameras was rude, we were left standing outside in the pissing rain for hours on end, it was so unorganized.. the first thousand auditions, 8 out of 10 people were getting through, then as it went on later in the day hardly anyone was going through.. most of the people going through looked wierd and could not sing a note.. i think it is just disgusting the way they do it.. everyone was appauled.. f*** X factor!!!

  98. janet says:

I went to the london auditions aswell, it was a complete joke..X factor is not what it seems on TV!! people need to understand that its really all about Showbizz! people were treated like cattle, string puppets being told to do stupid, pointless acting, whilst Dermot o’leary was miming an introduction..it was asbolute Crap! By the time I got to audition I could hear and feel the slopping sound of water in my shoes after standing in the pouring rain for 8hrs. I sang my heart out, even got a small applause by people standing close by, and was told no after saying I was from South Africa, 25yrs old, don’t have a sob story and infact have an education in Psychology…what does that tell you? I personally couldn’t be bothered because by the time I got to audition , my impression of xfactor was already hindered. My only concern is about people who are REALLY talented and are told no, and believe its because they can’t sing.. XFACTOR DOES NOT MAKE DREAMS, IT DESTROYS THEM.. By the way did anyone even know that leona lewis has had a failed album with a major record label before xfactor, how do we know that she wasn’t groomed to win even before the show started…people aren’t as dumb as these so-calledproducers think they are…

  99. Nicola says:

    Hello all,

I also auditioned yesterday, all that work just to get a no. On the upside the judge i had was nice and didnt shoo me away like something on her shoe.
When i walked in she was very smiley and asked if i was ok. She then went on to ask me my name, age, and what song i would be singing. I could tell as soon as she heard my age that her opinion of me changed, im only 14 yet i wouldnt say i act it. Although she didnt seem happy about my age she was still very friendly and said i could start when i was ready. I started off a bit shakey but once i got in to the song i thought i did well concidering id been in a que for 4 hours with terential rain, and been made to throw my arms around in the air for hours before my audition. The arena air-conditioning was on and all of us were dripping wet, they didnt make any attempt to warm us up or help us dry out, yet they expected us to all be pitch perfect, despite the fact they told us to scream to the cameras, what a way to strain your voice.
The set up of the day wasn’t as bad as i had thought it was going to be but i think the decision of when to let us in to the arena could of been more decisive, the arena staff said 10am when i rung up in advance but arena staff on the day said 8am, although when it got to 8am we only started filming and were told to jump around and look happy when my sleeves jeans and boots were all wet enough to fill a bucket up with the water i could of rung out of them, I was wearing a cardi, coat and a waterproof but the rain just got absorbed in to my coatand seeped through to my cardi and the rest of my outfit.

I have to say i didnt see anybody my age go through, i beleive the judges are breifed to let a minimal amount of minors through as i saw a girl about 16 who was lovely looking and dressed nicely, she had what i would call the look yet she didnt get through. I think the show is an utter shambles but im tempted to go back next year as im very competetive and wont accept defeat.

Good luck to all those who go through yesterdays auditions. And for those of you who didnt, dont feel bad, your just not what they have been told to look for.

  100. Anon says:

Hi Nicola I auditioned yesterday too and I totally agree with you. The air con was a disaster. Did they want everyone to get ill??? Depending on how I do this year with my music producer, I too may audition again next year.. I’m 22 and I did not sing pop. I think that the lady was not interested because I was not pop. She blatantly was not interested in me. I heard alot of good singers who were told no but I saw some ppl who could not sing but were told yes for entertainment value.. I think they are looking for a LOOK!!! But what look??
Anyway that’s enough of that.. Good luck luv and I may see you next year. x

  101. Anon says:

Hi All I auditioned in London yesterday. My friend and I got there at about 7 am and the doors didnt open until about 10.30am. We had to do all of this silent cheering crap for the cameras and it was freezing coz it was pissing down with rain. Everyone was soaked thru and I met this girl in the toilets who was crying coz she was soooooooo wet. I told her to go under the dryer.

We were given our numbers and our seat numbers but those 2 were not related. Most of the people who came in first (the ppl sitting near mr) were not seen first so we were pissed!!!!!! When I finally got to do my audition, the ladt who auditioned me did not seem interested at all. She asked me what I do and I said that i’m finishig my degree in music and I don’t think she liked that. Anyway I dang my song and she wasn’t paying me any attention. She said NO!! I asked her why and she said that the London standard was very high… Now I did not prepare myself for a no because I know that I can sing. They were looking for people who made an absolute fool of themselves and for pop singers. I am not pop- I never had been. I heard some great singers and they were all told no!!

I don’t know what I think of the xfactor right now and depending on what I do this year with a music producer, I don’t know if I will be applying next year. I WAS SOOOO SHOCKED!! I’m not one to blow my own trumpet but I never expected a know.

The whole process was unorganised and it was freezing. WE were in the o2 arena and they had the air con on blast, knowing that it was pissing down with rain outside. Oh by the way, you do not need your letters coz no one checks them. You can just show up. Loads of ppl did.
    GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!! x

  102. Becky says:

Today’s Auditions for X Factor at the O2 were an experience I would not even recommend to my worst enemy.

I was in the Que for 3-4 hours in the pouring rain while having to wave my arms in the air for the camera whilst O’Leary did some stupid stunt on a crane which nobody could see. The doors eventually opened at 9.00am and we then had to wait a further 3 hours for the auditions to start. During this time, hot drinks were provided for several thousand people by 2 girls with at a table. Whilst auditioning there was only one judge who did not even bother to look at me, was extremely rude and gave the impression that he did not want to be there.

I thought the X Factor was about finding singing talent and not about finding talentless idiots which seemed to get through in large numbers.

However, Good Luck to all those still auditioning.

  103. mary-anna says:

    hello all,

I did the Audition yesterday and it was soooooooooooo bad.
I was in the in the que for at least 2-3 hours in the rain which i might add was really bad
the toilets that were at the front of the line was sick.
we were let in at about 11:00
and the audition started at 2
fist come fist sevrd crap i was there from 7pm till 8pm
we did 2-3 hours of waving and shouting
we had food but we had to pay an arm and a leg for it

altogherth the day was bad i was wet the air con was on and the judes were rude they really didnt wont to b there

which made me as the singer feel like shit

be for those who got though well done you must have gone first!

    GOOD LUCK !!!!

    yours mary-anna

I also went to the audition today (Monday)and after reading the comments above I cannot agree more. The weather was attrocious and we were all left outside the O2 for hours regardless- I still dont know why they just didnt let us in earlier as it is huge. There were no stewards to ensure people were queueing and in the end the people behind me just pushed their way through, which left us near the back, event hough we got there at 8am. You know who you are! That whole experience up to that point left a bad taste in my mouth and I left. Anyone wanting fame that much deserves it.

  105. kamal says:

hi my name is kamal chamlani i have been singing for nearly 5 years now all most and i i can sing very good and i know i will be able to make it on x factor so please please reply back

i auditioned in cardiff on the 11th of may. same for us down there but the weather was really hot. got sunburnt. i had my audition about 4pm and got through to the call back the next day. went down for that one and got through again. now waiting to hear when the callbacks are. was told 2 weeks ( dead on today and still not heard.). anyone from the cardiff auditions heard if they are through. if you could let us know that would be great.

    matt

  107. matt jones says:

    you have to audition kamal

  108. Storm says:

Hi-I auditioned yesterday and i had a brilliant day. I think it was very well organised. Yes i was queing for hours and i was soaked to the bone but at the end of the day good things dont come easy. every other past contestant of xfactor has had to endure the same!! yes they put people try who can’t sing-thats for the entertainment but they also put thru people that are of high standard. I was put through because i sang well and composed myself. Im not saying im great and im not expecting alot. I want to establish myself and i feel xfactor is a fantastic show to do just that. for those that were told no,practise harder, come back next year and make them eat their words. every disappointment is a blessing!! x

  109. Evan J says:

I TOTALLY agree with everyone about the auditions in London at the O2 Arena on Monday 26th May. I was there from 7 30 a.m and the production team had us waiting in awful weather conditions! Everyone that was queueing up got absolutely soaked! And then to top it all off they had the nerve to keep the air conditioning on once we all got into the arena which most people didn’t get into before 10:30. The organization of the entire event was absolutely non-existent. Some people just couldn’t find the courtesy to wait and were jumping queues and being extremely rude, impolite and inconsiderate while doing so. The whole “first come, first served” idea was a complete rip-off since they let people audition according to the rows they were seated in! Common sense should have prevailed in that situation where to me it would have made more sense for the producers to call out batches of auditionees according to the numbers on the X-Factor stickers we were given, which would have been more fair.

And as for those producers! I understand that this is a tv show and they need ratings so there were some ridiculous but comical acts that were let through BUT there were some persons with AMAZING voices that were told no! Which is weird. Personally I think i have an ok voice, wasn’t too disappointed that I didn’t make it through (especially since I auditioned at 6:30 pm after waiting from 7:30 a.m – I was tired, annoyed and bored by that time HA HA!) but what seriously pissed me off is the producers! I got these two young girls, I’ll probably guess they were 25-28 years old and one was really nice you know smiling and what not. The other kept looking down and shaking her head and after my audition she told me “I’m sorry I don’t know that song. Can you sing something more commercial like from Stevie Wonder or Boys II Men perhaps?” I looked at her dumbfounded and said..”ahhh OK” and say a Boys II Men song I vaguely remember. I was then asked to sing SOMETHING ELSE! So i sang ordinary people by John legend and then was told “Well I’m sorry, you’re not commercial enough, it’s a no but keep on singing”. Couldn’t be bothered to ask what that meant. Smiled shook her hand, went home and slept!

You’ve got to love the X-Factor! I just wanted to see Sharon and Simon! :D

Oh well… There’s always next year! Maybe I’ll try as a group act next time… or dress up in a retarded outfit? Or sing like crap until I get through to the judges round? Ha Ha.. Looking forward to it.

Congratulations to those who made it through and are good singers!

I went to yesterdays auditions expecting a long but fun day….BOY was i wrong.

It was definitely long, but not fun. As im sure most of you know…the rain was ridiculous, i would have thought the least they could do is supply some sort of £1 annorack like you get a thorpe park or chessington, maybe they could even say X Factor on!!

WHY tell us to get there early when all we are going to be doing is waiting ages for a crowd to form just so they can get their filming done???….we were standing in the rain absolutely drenched, depressed, broken umbrellas everywhere..and then all of a sudden…’It’s fun to stay at the YMCA?!?!’ who can do that dance whilst not hitting each other with umbrellas?! People were pretending to be happy incase they got on camera…but who can be happy when you’ve stood in a que for 3 hours, soaking wet and freezing.

Once inside my jeans were soaked my bag soaked through soaking my phone and camera, i suffer from a circulatory problem and my hands were white and my lips and nails blue….but it made me even more determined to do well!

when it came to my go, i was ushered to producer 13 (typical, an unlucky number)in the small que i was shaking from cold and nervous….however when it was about to be my go, i composed myself, stopped shaking, and got my head together, i was fully ready. i walked in, smiled, laughed, and when asked my song ‘tears in heaven – Eric Clapton’ she looked at me as if to say ‘what a stupid song your a girl!’….and then asked me my name twice in a row, she obviously wasnt concentrating, i sang it the best i could possibly have done, no nerves, no bad notes. and a small group of people near by gave me a small clap, i had a huge grin because it went so well…….’im afraid i think it’s gonna have to be a no today….’

i asked for more feedback as to why and got told ‘the standard this year is very high’ so i asked ‘ok…so what does that mean, what did i do wrong?’ she replied ‘the standards are very high, but thankyou for coming’….

i felt asthough she didnt have a ligitament reason for not putting me through and i couldnt learn anything from her…i understand not everyone can go through, and i prepared myself for that….but considering it is the public who make their show, the least they could do is leave you with something to think about such as ‘you need to widen your range, you need to grow more confidence, you have a good voice but you dont move your hands’ anything!!

i will watch some of the audition shows to see if anyone i recognise is on there because i hope some of the generally talented people i saw that day do well in the show!

  114. Nicola says:

    Kj,

I totally agree, i deffinately think they should give you more feedback. Then at the same time they have nothing bad to say because they know your good enough to go through and if it was just about tallent they know you should go through, unfortunately its not. They just want people to entertain and they only let the odd tallented person go through because they would get criticism if they didnt have as many tallented people as not.
Being at the youngest possible age to audition i though they would want us as we bring something new to the show, but they dont want young ones, the producers clearly werent interested in me or other under 16 year olds, if they dont want us, dont have he age low enough for us to audition.

    Just my opinion.

  115. matt jones says:

this is the first year that i have tried for the auditions and wouldn’t do it again. not because of the que time, weather and all the filming but said this would be the one and only time. hard to get the time off work. how many times have some of you auditioned? is it that it’s addictive for some? have some been told “no” more than once? yes it’s nice that i got through ( the wait time to find out if your through to london is a killer though.) but just seems that if it’s a no for the first audition one year would it be the same as the next. some have said how bad it was but would they do it agaian?
just nice to hear what people think. not ment top be hurtfull to anyone. matt

I must say reading the above, the thought of going to stand in the rain for hours, and be totally disrespected does nothing for me. i went to my auditions last sunday at o2 arena! the rain was pathetic, my clothes were soaked and everything in my bag was saturated aswel. thousands of people in front of me and im surrounded by inconsiderate wannabes with umbrellas with their rainwater dripping off them onto me! not impressed! i waited in the queue for hours without moving once.. decided to call it a day b4 i shoved an umbrella where it shouldnt go.. by the sound of other peoples experiences im glad i didnt stay!!

  128. Danny says:

I auditioned last monday at the O2 arena in London. It was one hell of an experience… I queued for several hours in the driving rain, got absolutely soaked to the skin. When I finally got inside the arena I was one of the last in the queue due to incredibly rude and ignorant people breaking the barriers and pushing infront. I remained patient and got myself seated. I waited in the arena, freezing cold and wet for about 6 hours and I was one of the last to audition. I was told by the producer that auditioned me that I had a very powerful voice and that my audition was excellent. I was given a golden ticket which means I go back for another audition tomorrow in front of SONY/BMG producers… wish me luck!

p.s. I would recommend the whole experience to anyone. Yes I waited all day, yes I got soaked and cold, yes the food in the arena was incredibly expensive (£7 for a tiny piece of cod and about 30 chips, £3.70 for a hot dog), but it really was a great experience and it really was something to know that regardless of wether I got a yes or no after my audition, I had been a part of this year’s X-Factor, albeit a small one. Hey, who knows, I might be a big part of this year’s X-Factor if things go right tomorrow.

One question on my mind, I wonder if all these people slating the experience would have done so if they got a golden ticket? Simply bitter perhaps?

there was none of this phonecall business..so it s anew thing.
im waiting for my phonecall for cardiff at the moment
i rung the guys at talkback thames and he explained there has been delays and to hang in there…they are rushing through london auditionees as they were last to have first auditions and first infront of the judges..so they need to tell them before sunday.
i just want to know. he did say none from cardiff have been informed as yet. hopefully soon though =)

My two sons age 19 and 21 auditioned at Cardiff, got through the first 3 auditions in front of A & R staff, then the 4 th one today, in front of the ‘real judges’ thursday 3rd July, 2008 was such a farce.

They were asked to sing a song that the judges knew that they did not know, as if to just want to make them look ‘bad’. when my younger son questioned Simon with this, Simon did not like it. There were 3 judges, Simon, Cheryl Cole (who nastily laughed at them as they began) and Louis.

Obviously they could not show off their best, they didn’t want you to! and so they were told ‘No’. Then outside the room, after they came out of the audition to be interviewed my ’singer’ son was given the nod to sing when Simon, Cheryl and Louis were walking past. Simon said rudely walking past, Oh shut up, while my younger son asked Louis his opinon… Louis was very nice and told him that he would have said Yes but the others…. !!!! It was such a farce.. really was,,,, oh well now off to LA to work with a producer who seems to have a lot more to offer than trying to make you look bad to make a few more bucks for himself.. at your expense.

  152. Lianne says:

    hey,
Im 14 and i auditioned for the xfactor 2008 in london.
Honestly it was a total joke, it is not a talent contest atall and please dont go in with your hopes high. They are looking for entertainment only, no matter how good you are. I have learnt that if you have as much passion as you say you do to go on these things then go out there and look for studios, or any “genuine” auditions you can get. That actually are looking for musical talented people.
I am going to carry on writing my own songs, and singing in concerts and getting experience. There are more odds that you would get spotted singing in a shopping centre than getting into the xfactor.
I know im not going back next year! The amount of people there was astonishing, and you only get seen to a producer, it really isnt worth it!

  185. Tara Sorhaindo says:

    Hi guys

am applying for my first time this year, has taken me 5 years to go for it lol. But now is the time, really want this, love singing, love the whole thing. Feel great when I sing and would love to entertain others. I havent had my letter yet for London auditions, but I may go to the open day not sure, as apparentlt the producers are very hard to get through unless ur extremely good, or extremely rubbish (for entertainment) not to put u all off, just really want evry1 to get through and so u can show ur full potential to simon and the others straight away, as wiv the appointment auditions u have to clear 3 rounds with the producers. Good luck all, if any1 knows when the open day is in London, plz let me know. Thanks all. Luv Tara xxx

  194. claire says:

hi just woundering, i missed to apply for the auditions in time, can i still turn up and audition. please could u let me know. thank

  195. KiKi says:

    Hello,

Are the auditions at all these venues open auditions? I applied online, but never received a letter, and I am hoping to attend the auditions at Glasgow on May 9th.

It’s hard to tell from the site, which says nothing about a letter being mandatory, but instead states that:

“It’s not too late to audition so join the crowds at Birmingham City Football club at 8.00am this Easter Sunday.”

“Can’t make Birmingham? Check out our other audition locations and dates:”

Those direct quotes taken from the site makes me think it’s an open audition.

Also, judging from comments made elsewhere, it would seem that it’s several days of auditioning, perhaps back to back, once I get to Glasgow. Is this the case, even though Glasgow is only slated for one audition date? I only ask because this would affect how I schedule my flight and hotel. I wish everything was clear.

Thanks in advance for your response.
