The X Factor is open to any performer aged 14 to anything, and the golden oldies this year have come out in force proving that if you have a dream you are never too old to fulfil it.

And 66 year old court usher Betty Brice from Aldershot, is at the auditions to fulfil a life long dream, “all my life I have been a frustrated singer, I love to sing and entertain and I’ve got to get on with it because time is quickly passing by”. Betty has not come alone, she’s bought along a big bag of home-made sandwiches, and sausage rolls, in case the Judges are feeling a bit peckish!

As Betty starts her audition, the Judges all look on slightly shocked as she starts singing Gang Bang by Black Lace, causing all the Judges to blush and Simon to dub Betty a “little minx”. But he’s concerned that her love of saucy songs may not go down to well in the live shows “I like the naughty but nice songs though”, says Betty. But Louis, Danni and Cheryl seem to love Betty’s cheeky side and performance, could she prove that the oldies still have what it takes to make it through to the next stage, and Betty passes on her words of wisdom to other older contestants thinking of taking part, “Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll, just go for it”.
