X Factor bosses call emergency meeting
X Factor bosses have reportedly called an emergency meeting after their plans went to the wall and Danyl Johnson ended up in the bottom two tonight.
Simon and Co had Danyl tipped for the final at least and they thought he could do it easily. But they didn’t count on the power of the press and there is no doubt that despite providing amazing vocals, Danyl’s chances of winning have been hurt by recent newspaper articles.
On tonight’s Xtra Factor, Holly Willoughby chatted to Brian Friedman (creative director) and Yvie Burnett (vocal coach) about an emergency meeting that was taking place straight after the show.
Brian revealed that the team would be discussing song, style and choreography choices for next week’s Rock Week and said:
“We just gotta figure how next week is going to move up for all these contestants.”
Sounds like Simon Cowell doesn’t like it, when things don’t go to plan!

at the end of the day the problem is simon if one of the others judges acts was against miss frank tonight there would not have been a problem. they say its up to the public but they try to take and change our opions and are slowly taking our power away.
yes john and edward cannot sing, but personally i enjoy there performances more than the likes of lloyd, danyl, jamie, lucie etc. as they have fun and connect with viewers.
Simon it wud be completely different if someoen elses act was against miss frank, just because he likes been so smug, thats why i voted for everybody five times acept danyl cos he is a bully (making stacey cry), i voted for the twins 20 times, to annoy simon further.
go ben!! i completely agree, i did just ignore the claim that danyl was bullyig kandy rain. but now you see the contestants more you can tell danyl thinks he is gods gift and acts asif he has already won the show.
so i am not suprised to hear he is bullying people inside the house.
i just want simon to be braught down a peg or two as well as his acts as they all seem coCKY, simon was blaming the press, lwt the press do their job, he didnt make a fuss when eoghan and diana got bad press after week 7, before the bad press they were the favourites two win,

Danyl is not as good as Simon makes out, he got a lot of media hype when he was on the first week of the auditions but since then a lot of other good acts were shown and Danyl was nothing special.
I do not like Danyl smug attitude he acts as if he has already won it and thinks he is superior to others. I do not like bullies and he is a bully, he does not pick on the fellows, no Kandy Rain and now Stacey who next Lucie. Was so pleased he was in the bottom two bet he doesn’t feel so clever now.
I wouldn’t vote for an act just to annoy another judge though as for me its about the acts not the judges. I cannot stand The Twins as they have no talent at all and by voting for them it means a good act will go home.

Danyl is not that great, in my opinion. I don’t enjoy his singing/screaming and don’t look forward to his performances. On top of that, his arrogance, insincerity, and bullying is quite off-putting. This is our chance to send a message to Simon and Danyl that that type of action will not be tolerated. I hope we vote next week to boot Danyl off the show.
I agree that if Danyl were not one of Simon’s acts, there would not have been an emergency meeting. Danyl deserves to go and I bet the other contestants would be happy to see it happen. People, we cannot let the powers that be at X Factor manipulate the show to make Danyl win. I’m quite confident that once the bottom two were evident, the judges agreed to arrange their votes as they did because they knew Danyl would be safe. Next week is our time to send a message!

There’s no evidence he’s like that, why is Louis Walsh being nice and saying Danyl is great if he thinks he’s a bully to others? You’re all victims of the media, following every word they say like stupid sheep because you have no minds of your own.
I don’t like Danyl’s voice. He is loud and very psyched up about himself, but the actual tone of his voice is bland. He has great eyes. Dresses pretty well usually. Desperate for attention. I think that’s why he appealed so much to Simon. Simon likes to feel people are just dying for his attention… A match made in Cowell heaven. It’s not much about entertainment watching Danyl…
Sigh, if there’s nothing happening, why would the press have not one, but two articles surfacing about his bullying? if there’s nothing happening, how would they have the materials to write about him bullying? they cant just write something out of thin air can they?
and kinda fed up with simon always saying “danyl is out of their league” danyl is a good singer (but very bad personality, see his previous post performances reactions, trying so hard) but not better than the contestants, vocally joe is better than him, lucie is better than him, rachel is better than him, stacey is better than him.
totally agree with yvette, they are better than him not only vocally but also personality-wise. i still like him though.
The big bully here is Simon. He thinks his acts are so great and each week he intimidates the younger people more and more, and if he can’t do it about their singing, he does it about their clothes or make-up. These kids are 16-20 years of age and are more vulnerable than the over 25s. Simon plays on that; his smugness permeates to his own acts and makes them cocky (Jamie jumping off the stage last week and high-fiving Simon after his performance was very inappropriate). I really don’t care if Danyl got the bad Simon vote; in my opinion, he deserves it because of his arrogance and really, he’s not THAT great.
i totally agree with ‘me’. yes danyl is good, they’re is no denying it, he has an excellent voice, and if it wasnt for the bloody papers than he would be a potential winner, the best acts for me were stacey joe miss frank and danyl, i do not like j & e, jamie and lloyd. its a singing competition not the apocalypse, stop making a big deal out if it, danyl is good, end of!
Up until this past week, the acts that have been in the bottom two have not been one of the pre-series favourites. Now that one of the top tier acts has dropped in to the bottom, I suspect the voting public may pay greater attention to a potential winner, as opposed to just voting for a novelty act.
I disagree with some of the other commenters in that that “emergency meeting” would also happen if Olly, Stacey, Joe or Lucie were in the bottom two.
In addition, commenters would be better served if they provided proof of bullying (not tabloid articles or blogs) before making absurd allegations. Otherwise, they themselves are being the bullies.
To take the edge off of the serious tone (as serious as one can get about a talent/popularity show), here are my predictions of eliminations for a bit of fun.

I sometimes read the papers, but I confess I think most of what they print is sensationalist press reporting. Maybe taking things of this nature with a pinch of salt isn’t such a bad idea.
On the level of truthfullness it is still supposed to be a competition so the competitive spirit should become apparent soon.
Competitive spirit does not mean individuals become bullies instead they should become a little self centred in the best possible way. Concentrating mainly on what they do to perform at their best.
I was not impressed with Saturdays show and would say that as someone experienced with big band music as an era of great musical development for Jazz and Swing that the competition this week was more of a pop show and this is despite having a sitting orchestra.
I think the major problem is that these youngsters have no concepts of what big band music was all about. For them it begins and ends with Michael Buble which is extremely narrow.
From a historical prospect the big band music sound actually began circa 1930 and reached its pinacle around the 1950’s and its fall from favour in terms of popularity came when the singers became more important than the big band leaders and conductors themselves mid to late 1950’s and on to approxiamtely the late 1960’s.
The current revival is a commercial directive seriously influenced by pop.

Both Louis and Cherel have said that they dont like Danyls attidude, the fact is the public dont like Danyle as much as siman thought and hoped, and we are getting sick of bias comments made by siman every week such as “that was out of leage with anything else we will here to night” Simans face when John and Edward went through and Danyle didnt was priceless and I wouldnt have missed it for the world.
Personally I find him irritating and I have no reason to beleave angry fans who have never met him over contestants and the press who actually know what there talking about. Candy Rain had no reason to ruin his reputation in partiuclar, if they were as spitefull as some nieve people think then why did they pick golden boy danyl? When we here a second sepretate event which danyl is at the bottom do we still think that this is all a stich up? Of course not when Simon and ITV bosses are doing there best to prevent Danyl from leaving, whats the betting Dannie had presure put on her for keeping danyl after the accedentlal comments she said a few weeks ago?
“Doozer” since Danyl has now appeared in the bottom 2 and so far no winner of the xfactor has appeared in the bottom 2 it is unlikely he will win, the bookies are backing Stacey as one of there favorites and now that Danyl’s chances are now very low I think she will go all the way, and im 99.99% sure she will atleast be in the top 3. You are turning into a bully yourself. Danyll has the talent. His voice is soulful, no doubt. We didn’t vote for him because he was the obvious winner. This time we will. I don’t care what simon is like but he is good with what he does, and I respect that. If you don’t feel Danyll’s talent, it’s not his problem..its yours. If he and stacey had a prob bet. them…it’s theirs to argue. Cant blame Danyll though…stacey is getting into my nerve as well, but I am not a bully. Stacey’s manners maybe irritating if watched through camera but she could easily be a friend to anyone as she is a lovely girl. But it’s not about being lovely is it? We all need a voice that could transcend a song or music into a different level. Danyll can do just that and if we don’t vote for him…it bounce back to us…as fools.I like stacey, but his mannerism is getting on me now. Rachel is mimicking her too as she thinks that is the way to reach out to the public. it might work with you but not with me.

I agree with the posters above criticizing Danyle. There have been multiple stories about Danyl bullying contestants and it jives with Danii saying that Stacey went in to see her in tears. Moreover, Kandy Rain have been quoted as saying that Danyl bullied them. If there is no truth, why should the press target only him? He’s not so far and away the favorite to be targeted. Joe is just as much of a favorite, though I hope he does not win either. Danyl is a bully, but more to the point, he cannot sing. If this were a screaming competition, though, he’d win by a mile. I hope he goes out ASAP. He doesn’t have the charisma to win a competition like this and acts like Kandy Rain and Stacey could destroy him if they so chose by going to the press.
Simon’s antics are also old at this point.
and to those who are criticizing and preaching not to believe the press and the media (by saying that danyl is a bully), why do you even bother to come here to read the articles published by the PRESS and the MEDIA?
Bravo well said, Mark and Sam. Danyl is waaay overrated, true his first audition was a fancy bit of vocal tricks but anyone with proper sense of hearing can’t disagree that ever since his audition he hasn’t lived up to it. Not vocally nor performance vise either. He just screams his head off.. which sadly is considered as singing for some people.. -_-
Danyl has an above average voice at best, if you disagree check the performances on Youtube. Staycey, Joe and Lucie can easily beat danyl vocally by a mile at least, all you have to do is forget the overrated hype surrounding Danyl and his ”awesome” first audition and listen to the true vocal talent which is what the show is about.
Bottom line, Danyl is good but he isn’t the best singer/performer out of the remaining finalists, thus it wasn’t suprising in the least to see him in the bottom two considering it’s a singing competition. Simon should stop pouring praises on Danyl and start being honest with him. That’s just my two cents…
No one can say that Danyl cannot sing, he had one of the best performances of the night and has been floorless each week and you can tell he works soooo hard. I think an emergency meeting has been called because two of the most strongest acts in the competition were placed in the bottom two, which isnt how the competetion is meant to work! Sure the public are meant to have their say but if the public want people like john and edward to win and be in the charts compared to people like miss frank, lucy and ofcourse danyl, then its a bit upside down. If Danyl was in someone elses group and this happened an emergency meeting would still have been called because simon can recognise talent and sure a few shocks do the show good, but if all the good ones went first the show would not do aswell as it does.
As for him being a bully and cocky, I just think hes got excellent stage present and knows how to perform. Like miss frank said in their interview and all the other contestants say, when danyl comes off stage hes so humble and nice, hes just good at performing. we are making assumptions based on the press and just because hes confident on stage doesnt mean hes like that off the stage, performers are meant to be confident! If he was shy everyone would say he was boring and would tell him to be more confident.
I think simon is always honest and tells his acts when they werent at his best, like he always tells the other acts when they were brilliant! Sure hes prob not as mean to his acts but the other judges look after their own acts and always praise them too!
Danyl vocally has been one of the best consistantly each week (with the likes of lucy and stacey) – and saying he cant perform, well the others just stand there is that performing for you!
hes giving it his all – stop listening to the press and making assumptions, vote for him because of his voice.!

Hi I’m Irish by the way, J & E are an embarressment, but i dont blame them i blame Louis for putting them there in the first place. For me i think this competition should be about finding someone with the ability, determination, and personality to go on and be a huge international star. For me the only person who scores on all 3 is Lucie!! What an amazingly beautiful voice!!!! And seriously beautiful to boot!! I hope she wins and that Simon wakes up and shows some respect, and gives some credit, towards this unique, talented and beautiful young girl and voice..
I’ve just read on Yahoo’s news that the reason for the meeting was to discuss the credibility of the show considering John and Edward are still in the competition and seem to be drawing the biggest viewers vote. I leave it to you to think what you will.
