X Factor bosses ‘not unduly worried’ about Strictly Come Dancing ratings gain
X Factor bosses have claimed that they are not panicking about the fact that Strictly Come Dancing beat them in the ratings last weekend.
As we previously reported, the BBC dance show drew in more viewers than it’s ITV rival for the first time in four years, a fact which left beeb bosses elated.
However ITV staff say that they are refusing to get in a tizzy about the news and an X Factor spokesperson told The Mirror:
“We are not unduly worried. We have continued to be the most successful show on TV this autumn.”
He added: “Fair play to Strictly. We’ve got two great shows achieving great ratings. But we’re not resting on our laurels and will be back to beat them another day – maybe next week.”
Some newspapers have been speculating that it is the absence of Simon Cowell that is leading to the drop in ratings in recent weeks, however our readers seem to think that the fall in popularity has more to do with the lack of talent and poor contestants on the live shows. We have started a poll on the subject and would love you to cast your vote here.
A BBC spokesman admitted that their team is delighted to have finally won the weekly Saturday ratings war and said:
“We’re delighted more and more are tuning in to Strictly Come Dancing.”
Contestant Robbie Savage tweeted: “Can’t believe I’m dancing on the most viewed show in Britain with 11.5 million viewers – wow!”
You can watch Robbie’s amazing groin grabbing, hip thrusting performance once again here….believe us, it will really brighten up your Monday!
